Prof. E.O.E. Pereira (13 September 1907–22 May 1988), a visionary leader who not only established the faculty, but also laid the foundation for engineering education in Sri Lanka. Althaf’s golden boot brings Trinity victory- By Hafiz Marikar   Source:Sundayobserver Trinity College won their annual Bradby Shield rugby match for the first time in ten years as they beat Royal College 25-23 at Pallekele yesterday. Royal led 20-13 at half time but the most exciting moments of the match was played out in the final five minutes of play when Trinity’s fullback Shan Althaf with his golden boot put his team ahead with a penalty making the scores 22-20. HRCSL directs Royal College to rectify wrong prefects’ appointments – By SUSITHA FERNANDO Source : dailymirror The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has directed Royal College, Colombo 7 to rectify the alleged wrong appointments made to the Prefects Council for 2024. The Human Rights Commission made this direction following seven complaints filed by students of Royal College who claimed their rights were violated by the appointments of prefects for the year 2024.  They cited the Principal of Royal College and Director – National Schools and the Minister of Education and copies of the complaints had been sent to the Education Ministry Secretary, the Minister of the Education and the Presidential Investigation Commission. The HRCSL headed by Justice L.T.B. 100 YEARS AT REID AVENUE – By Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam (58 group) In 1923, Royal College moved to the present location at Reid Avenue from its previous one  at Thurstan Road, which was handed over to the University. On 10th October, Governor Sir William Manning declared open the new buildings making a permanent abode for the school a reality. Plans for a new school was drawn up in 1918 approved by government and the building when completed, was to serve as a model for a fully organised secondary school. Construction commenced in August 1919, and at the beginning of second term in 1923, nine classes were moved into the new site.
