“A RAY OF HOPE” Quite a beautiful “Title” to begin 2023 with, is this little story sent in by Chris. Lawton, which I feel should be seen by each and EVERY ONE of our Members and readers of e’Lanka. Around 70 years ago, I was a Serving member of the Royal Ceylon Navy, drafted to H.M.CyS Elara, at Karinagar, where our Navy meals were really nothing to write home about, and the drinking water was even worse, tasting very much like the Indian Ocean that surrounded us, when quite suddenly, my Dad called me on the telephone to find out how I was going, and I briefly mentioned my complaints to him, wherupon, he gave me this advice, which I have followed to this day.. ” LIFE, A TRAIN JOURNEY” – By Des Kelly On watching this meaningful, beautiful, and to top it off, Musical train journey, backed by the memorable voice of Susan Boyle, I found myself thinking of my very first train journey, from the little Suburb of Moratuwa, in my Lovely Island Home,Ceylon, all the way to Nuwara Eliya, the Scenic Capital of the World, as far as I was concerned, anyway.
