DESMOND KELLY

“OUR SRI LANKA” – By Des Kelly I am extremely proud to introduce this superb poem by a lady already well known as a Choreographer in Melbourne Town, who is also a dancer and line-dancing Specialist, loves good music, fitness, and in addition, is a good friend who recently choreographed ‘The Kelly Cha Cha’ among dozens of like line-dances, which she does so very well. Everything she has written in this poem on our Motherland comes from her heart, so, without further ado, let me introduce this professional, heartfelt poetry to you. ‘Our Sri Lanka’ enhances e’Lanka, & written in the truly decorative style, by Shanthie De Mel, begs the perusal of each and every true Patriot of our Country, Our Lovely Island Home. “THE NASHVILLE JAM” – by Des Kelly   This is the ideal manner of proving what MUSIC CAN DO. Many years ago, a young lady presented me with a Cassette-Tape of a group calling themselves The Mavericks. I thanked her, but put the tape on-hold, as I didn’t have enough time to listen to the stack of music I had stored  already, but then she rang me to find out IF I had listened to her tape, so I did apologise and then decided to listen to the Mavericks in her company, and invited her to my little music studio at the rear of my home. She accepted my invitation and, already being a big fan of the Mavericks, did not waste too much time in coming down. So this was it. The Mavericks music filled my little room & proved beyond a doubt that one needn’t have elaborate sheets ...

“PAPA DE NIESE” I am nearly certain that this is the man involved in this fascinating story sent in by Algi Wijewickrema & Keith Bennett. I was a Peterite of this era, but our Masters were always better known by their nicknames and Papa de Niese was certainly one of the ‘top ones’. Desmond Kelly.. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief)…e’Lanka. Source:Facebook After the names of Rev. Fr. Maurice Le Goc and Rev. Fr. Nicholas Perera, arguably the most mentioned name in the annals of early College history, is that of George Henry de Niese and it would not be right to close the centenary year without a tribute to this versatile person that served St. Peter’s in more than one way. It is not only for his contribution as a teacher, artist, musician and designer that he deserves to be remembered but also for the legacy he left behind. Based on records available ...

Dad & Daughter Duet – By Des Kelly “Where No One Stands Alone, it is called. More of a Hymn rather than a song, it is however a beautiful Ballad sung by the King of Pop himself, joined in later by his now late Daughter Lisa Marie who was a very good Vocalist in her time on Earth and making this a duet that is very very special indeed. I am sure that everyone who hears it will love it, so thanks to Keith Bennett for sending it in. Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief … e’Lanka. ...

“WOMEN PERSONIFIED” – by Des Kelly Thank you, both Ralph Baker & Keith Bennett, for this enlightening episode on WOMEN. As a young avid reader, i once bought a book, simply because I espied the ‘title’ on its cover which read ‘This Man Understands Women’. I was around 12 years old, hadn’t had the chance of understanding the female sex at all, and yes !!,  this was my chance to find out SOMETHING about them, so I paid the bookseller the two rupees he was asking, grabbed the book and headed home to read about everything I wanted to know, took myself to a quiet corner and commenced find out about the female gender. Naturally, I opened up the book, but peruse as I might, I could not find a SINGLE PRINTED WORD in the entire book. So much, for finding out about Women. I gave up, after that, and ...

“SOUND PAPAL ADVICE” – By Desmond Kelly.   Sent to us by Chris Lawton, via Keith Bennett, is this sound Papal advice, delivered by Pope Francis, himself, early in the New Year of 2023. This Pope chose to go under the name of Francis, although his real name happens to be Jorge Mario Bergoglio, simply because he, like a lot of us, loves animals, and the renowned name of the holy Saint of the Carholic Church, Saint Francis of Azzizi went to the extent of actually  talking with the animals who came his way, and whats more, they understood him. Without further ado,let us now go straight to Pope Francis & the wise, wonderful speech he afforded us with which, to start the New Year,  not forgetting both Chris. & Keith, for forwarding it to e’Lanka.  Now, I would join Pope Francis in saying may God bless everyone out there. Desmond ...

“A LESSON IN LIFE” A big “thank you” to both Chris. Lawton & Keith Bennett for sending us this story. Ample proof, that if you are not willing to share it with those less fortunate than you are, Personal Wealth means absolutely nothing to anyone. Remarkable fella, this John D.Rockerfeller, so well known by just his initials alone, JD, one of the wealthiest men in history, goes on to give us this ‘Lesson in life’, as only he could do it.  They tell us that we are students to the grave, a grave, but true statement, that every one of us should be aware of.  Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief)   e’Lanka. ...
