“AS NED SAID”

As Ned said, at the old Melbourne Jail, just before the executioner pulled back the lever to plummet him, (Ned Kelly) to his death, “SUCH IS LIFE”

Now, Des.Kelly writes a “little something” for “eLanka”, the Premier Website for Lankan/Australians & Lankans who, unfortunately, are spread around this World of ours, for the simple reason that there wasn’t enough “room” in Lanka to hold onto smart cookies like us. “SUCH IS LIFE”

On the first day God created the dog & said to him,
“Go, sit all day at the front door of your Master’s house and bark or growl at anyone who enters or simply passes by. For this, dog, I will give you a span of life covering 20 years. The dog thought about this and replied “Lord, that is a long time to be growling and barking. Give me about 10 years & I will give you back the other ten. God saw, it was good.

On the second day, God created the monkey & said, “Go, entertain the. people who I will create later, do some tricks & make.them laugh. For this, I will give you a lifespan of 20 years. “Monkey-tricks” ? for 20 years, Lord, this is very long, isn’t it? said the monkey , “Lord, begging your pardon, what if, like the dog, I give.you back half the time? . God saw, it was good.

On the third day, God created the cow. God then said, “Go out into the fields with the farmers, suffer the heat of the sun, all day, have calves and provide milk for the farmer, his family & everyone else. For this, I will give you a 60 year lifespan. The cow was thunder-struck. “60 years Lord? , such a tough life for 60 years?

Please let me give you back forty years, & I’ll suffer for 20 years, a long time, anyway. God saw, it was good.

On the fourth day, God created the “human” and said;-
“Go, eat, sleep, marry & enjoy your life”. For this I will give you a lifespan of twenty years”. .Human being”, never satisfied, said, “Oh Lord, ONLY 20 years? Please Lord, let me have the 80 years that you got back from the dog, the monkey and the cow & I’ll thank you for it.”

God said, “O.K., you’ve asked.for it & got it.”

That is the reason why, for our first 20 years, we eat, drink, sleep, play & generally enjoy ourselves.

For the next 40 years we “slave” to support our families. For the next 10 years we do “monkey-tricks” to entertain the grand-children & for the last 10 years, we sit on the front porch & bark & growl at everyone.

I am doing this only as a.public service to millions of readers. If you are looking for me, I will be on my front porch, barking & growling like a friggin idiot.!
