Sri Lanka Cricket announced this week the opening of the largest Indoor Cricket Centre in Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium during the Sri Lanka – Australia cricket series 2016. Sri Lanka Cricket would like to emphasise that the construction of the same has now been undertaken by the Central Province Cricket Association under the supervision of SLC at a huge saving of Rs.50 million with SLC gaining additional facilities including two playing strips. The new Centre will be equipped with the latest technologies with high-tech cameras and longest run-up laid with Tufted Turf for player comfort and to reduce impact. On an invitation extended by the Chief Executive Officer SLC, Ashley de Silva, ICC Chief Executive Officer, David Richardson visited the ongoing construction site at Pallekele and was impressed with the facilities that are to be provided in the near future and conveyed his best wishes to the President, Thilanga Sumathipala and the Executive Committee of SLC.
