ST PETER’S COLLEGE OLD BOYS UNION NSW
MUSICAL EVENING 2 SEPTEMBER 2017
AT THE DON MOORE COMMUNITY CENTRE

The second day of spring in Sydney was an idyllic setting for the Peterite Musical Evening at the Don Moore Community Centre, when over 60 old Peterites gathered to honor our Alma Mater with a rendition of the College Anthem.

There was Golden Gleam, when Peterites on Parade, a talented collection of old Peterite musicians, who have performed with renowned bands like the Jetliners, Spitfires and Fireflies in Sri Lanka, kicked off the event and it did not take long for our dance revelers to fill the floor. They were closely followed by DJ Shankster, who enticed the millennial’s on to the dance floor with his selection of contemporary music. The surprise for the evening was old Peterite, Conrad de Silva, all the way from Melbourne, who stormed the stage to rousing applause from the floor. The evening progressed with dancing to the delightful music of the Peterites on Parade and DJ Shankster.

SPC OBU NSW Cricket Team, who won the Inter Schools Tournament held in February this year between the Old Bens, Josephians and Anthonians, were awarded medals in recognition of their achievement.

Attractive raffle prizes on offer saw the swift sale of tickets. Proceeds from the Musical Evening will go towards the St Peter’s College Scholarship Fund and other approved projects.

A sumptuous cuisine inclusive of hoppers and kotthu supplied by Dish, recharged the revelers. As the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun and midnight was soon upon us and this wonderful evening had to come to a close.

A big thank you also to our very generous donors, our caterers, Dish, the Peterites on Parade (Conrad de Silva, Roger Menezies, Darryl de Silva, Randy Pieris, Garry Pietersz, Cliff Willenberg and Ray Bartholomeusz), DJ Shankster and last but not least, the Sound Engineer. Also thanks to our brother schools that formed tables in support of the event and to Senani Gunasekera for guiding us through the evening as MC.

Shiran Viswasam, Chairman of the Dance Committee, has to be highly commended for delivering a memorable evening, high quality food and music with the support of our President, Senani Gunasekera, Vice President, Amal Wahab and the rest of the Committee.

We thank all of you for attending and supporting the St Peter’s College Old Boys Union, NSW and look forward to your continued support at our future events.

Gerard Velayuthen
