IS “VETTING” UPSETTING? By the “Star of eLanka”

desmond kelly

Is “vetting” upsetting? , I would think not
Cos, this is the ONLY method we’ve got
Refugees, migrants, whoever they are
They all need compassion, this is clear, so far
They leave their own Country to seek a new life
For whatever reason, be it trouble or strife
But THEY must be prepared, to prove they’ll be true
To who gives them succour, whether many,or few
Vetting’s important, of this, there’s no doubt
This is one word, that we can’t do without
EVERY refugee should, from now, expect
This “extreme vetting”, is a very safe bet! .

This is the latest “in-word” at the moment, “going-forward”(another new phrase), “vetting”. If my.good readers will kindly re-read the final line of my little “poem” above, it refers to exactly what the word
means. The interesting word goes back to the 17th Century, believe it or not, involves horse-racing and
“Vet-checks” of these beautiful creatures.

It was certainly an “impassioned” telephone call between President Trump and Prime-Minister Turnbull
very recently. Social-Media has, in one way, magnified the transparency of the World at large. Even “blind-Freddy” could see that this 25 minute telephone conversation was certainly NOT a very sociable one, but no-one actually saw the President slam the phone down on our P.M. So, here is where our Social-Media goes “over the top” in a big way.
Come on, Ladies & Gentlemen, please do not exaggerate EVERYTHING as you tend to do, nowadays.
Television, Radio, Newspapers, headlines blazing with the pro’s & con’s of this “telephone call”, could do much better to “feature” much more IMPORTANT issues that are happening right now on this planet of ours & Australia in particular.

As for the extreme vetting of the refugees from the “detention centres” in Australia, President Trump knows perfectly well that without Australia as THEIR most important ally, America is going to find it very difficult “on many fronts”( to make a long story short).
He will NOT risk losing the support of Australia. Prime Minister Turnbull “made a deal” with the former President Obama as regards these refugees and, naturally expects the deal to be fulfilled in my opinion, but, Mr.Trump has every right to state that he will only accept refugees that MIGHT be good citizens of the U.S. Prime Minister Turnbull should do exactly the same thing. As I have written, many times before, EXTREME VETTING should be the practice of every Government of Australia to come. This “condition” was much more in focus during the 1950’s & 1960’s but has fallen far short, lately. Australia is now letting-in, a whole heap of rubbish and should closely follow President Trump’s new “slant” on new entrants to his Country.

To all my friends in the Social Media. I understand that all the “happenings” around our World are now becoming very interesting but WE cannot “read minds”,
much as we would like to. What has to happen, will, and when it does, let’s take it on board and then do something about it.

Race on, you thoroughbreds. If you break-down, extreme vetting will commence & so be it. !

Desmond Kelly.
