STC OBA NSW/ACT AGM & New Committee
Dear Fellow Thomians,
We are delighted to announce the newly elected OBA committee for the forthcoming period 2024/25. The new committee was appointed at the AGM that concluded on 27th October 2024 with President pro tempore Milroy Berenger.
Similar to past years, many Thomians both young and old gathered at the Baulkham Hills Community Centre for the AGM. This year was special, after 3 years, the current president Sanjiv Vivekanandan stepped down from the presidency and young Hemal Wickramasinghe was elected as the new president. We thank Sanjiv for his guidance, support and dedication as President which undoubtedly made the OBA a stronger organization.
The afternoon kicked off with the formal proceedings followed by fellowship dinner and music. Due to popular demand, everyone’s favourite ‘Hoppers’ and ‘Watalappan’ was back accompanied by music from our very own Chitran Duraisamy.
This year two of our long serving committee members decided to step down. Namely the Treasure, Harshitha Abeyasinghe and Rajeeva De Alwis. Both have contributed to the OBA for many years and we thank them for their dedication and service.
Continuing the momentum from previous years, we yet again saw young members taking up roles in the committee.
The guest speaker for this year’s AGM was Arul Niles. He reflected on ‘college life’ where he learnt to value diversity within the society and treat everyone equal irrespective of their background. Also, Arul spoke about the importance of risk management for businesses and shared few of his personal experiences as a lawyer. He extended this topic to family law which resulted in multiple questions from the audience. It was a very engaging session to say the least.

We look forward to an exciting 2024/25 with the confidence that it will be yet another successful period and hoping to see as many of you as possible in upcoming events.
