SLBC Names Studio After Legendary Singer Nanda Malini

The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) has honoured veteran singer Nanda Malini by officially naming its Studio 09 as the “Dr. Nanda Malini Studio”.
The ceremony, attended by the Prime Minister, Harini Amarasuriya and other dignitaries, recognised her significant contribution to the country’s music industry.
The Prime Minister praised Nanda Malini for using her music to address themes of love and social justice. SLBC Chairman Professor Uditha Gayashan Gunasekara acknowledged that she had been unfairly banned from radio broadcasts in the past, offering an apology on behalf of the corporation and promising that such a period would not be repeated.
Dr. Malini stated that the SLBC was the foundation of her musical career, where she had the opportunity to work with many great artists.
