Cinnamon Life and John Keells Foundation Present La Bamba! The Song of Veracruz
In association with Nations Trust Bank, Colombo welcomes the West End–licensed musical across seven shows in five days
Colombo, Sri Lanka; 5th February 2026 – Cinnamon Life, in collaboration with John Keells Foundation (JKF) and in association with Nations Trust Bank (NTB), announced the staging of the West End–licensed musical La Bamba! The Song of Veracruz at a press conference held on 5 February 2026 at Cinnamon Life, City of Dreams, Colombo.
The musical theatre production will be performed at Cinnamon Life, City of Dreams, Colombo, from 24–28 April 2026, featuring seven performances across five days. The production will also include local auditions to source part of the cast from Sri Lanka, bringing together international and homegrown talent for an energetic and immersive theatrical experience.
A Landmark International Theatre Production
La Bamba! The Song of Veracruz is a West End–licensed professional musical that delivers vibrant music, dance, and storytelling inspired by Mexican heritage. The production features a cast of 19 performers, 6 musicians, supported by a crew of over 40, and full stage design, reflecting the scale and sophistication of West End productions.
In partnership with Paul Morrissey Ltd, a London-based theatre production company with extensive experience in West End and international productions, the show ensures globally aligned creative direction, production quality, and operational excellence.

Cinnamon Life: A Stage for Global Entertainment
Cinnamon Life has previously brought major international productions to Sri Lanka, including The Sound of Music in February 2018 and West End’s Mamma Mia! in December 2018, both hosted at an alternative venue, each selling over 7,000 tickets across multiple shows. With La Bamba!, Cinnamon Life now presents a production of this scale for the first time at its own state-of-the-art premises since its grand opening last year, further reinforcing Colombo’s position as a hub for world-class entertainment.
Designed to accommodate over 900 seats, Cinnamon Life’s Forum is equipped to host large-scale performances, featuring advanced backstage and rigging facilities. The Forum is fully capable of presenting seven shows in five days, providing a polished stage environment for both international and Sri Lankan performers.

Associate Direction for the Local Cast
The local cast will be guided under the associate direction of theatre practitioner Kalakeerthi Jerome Lakshman de Silva. With over five decades of experience in musical theatre and stage direction, Jerome brings deep expertise in large-scale, ensemble-driven productions, ensuring that La Bamba!’s performance resonates with both its West End roots and international audiences.

නේෂන්ස් ට්රස්ට් බැංකුව සමඟ එක්ව, දින පහක් පුරා සංදර්ශන හතක් ලෙස පැවැත්වෙන මෙම වෙස්ට් එන්ඩ් බලපත්රලාභී ගීත නාට්ය උත්කර්ෂයෙන් පිළිගැනුමට කොළඹ නගරය සුදානමින් සිටී;
2026 පෙබරවාරි 5 වැනිදා කොළඹ සිනමන් ලයිෆ් සිටි ඔෆ් ඩ්රීමස් හෝටල් පරිශ්රයේ මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් පැවති මාධ්ය හමුවකදී, සිනමන් ලයිෆ් සහ ජෝන් කීල්ස් පදනම එක්ව ඉදිරිපත් කරන සහ නේෂන්ස් ට්රස්ට් බැංකුව සමඟ එක්ව වේදිකාගත කිරීමට නියමිත වෙස්ට් එන්ඩ් බලපත්රලාභී ලා බම්බා! වෙරාකෲස් හි ගීතය, ගීත නාට්ය පිළිබඳව නිවේදනය කරනු ලැබුවා.

ජාත්යන්තර නාට්ය නිෂ්පාදනයේ සුවිශේෂී සලකුණක්
ලා බම්බා! වෙරාකෘස් හි ගීතය යනු මෙක්සිකානු උරුමයෙන් ආභාෂය ලැබූ විචිත්රවත් සංගීතය, නැටුම් සහ කතන්දර ඇතුළත් අත්දැකීමක් ප්රේක්ෂකයාට ලබා දෙන වෙස්ට් එන්ඩ්-බලපත්රලාභී වෘත්තීය ගීත නාට්යයකි. මෙම නාට්ය නිෂ්පාදනය වාදකයින් 19 දෙනෙකුගෙන් සහ සංගීතඥයින් 6 දෙනෙකුගෙන් යුත් කණ්ඩායමක් ද ඇතුළුව 40 කට අධික කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයක සහයෙන් සිදුවන අතර, සම්පූර්ණ වේදිකා නිර්මාණය, වෙස්ට් එන්ඩ් නිෂ්පාදනවල පරිමාණය මෙන්ම නවීනත්වය පිළිබිඹු කරයි.
වෙස්ට් එන්ඩ් සහ ජාත්යන්තර නිෂ්පාදන පිළිබඳ පුළුල් අත්දැකීම් ඇති ලන්ඩනයේ පිහිටි නාට්ය නිෂ්පාදන සමාගමක් වන පෝල් මොරිසි ලිමිටඩ් සමඟ හවුල්කාරිත්වයෙන් යුතු මෙම ප්රදර්ශනය ගෝලීය වශයෙන් සැකසුණු නාට්යක නිර්මාණාත්මක අධ්යක්ෂණය, නිෂ්පාදන ගුණාත්මකභාවය සහ මෙහෙයුම් විශිෂ්ටත්වය සහතික කරයි.

සිනමන් ලයිෆ් මින් පෙරද ප්රමුඛ පෙළේ ජාත්යන්තර නිෂ්පාදන ශ්රී ලංකාවට ගෙනැවිත් ඇති අතර, 2018 වසරේ පෙබරවාරි මාසයේදී ද සවුන්ඩ් ඔෆ් මියුසික් සහ එම වසරේම දෙසැම්බර් මාසයේදී වෙස්ට් එන්ඩ් නිෂ්පාදනයක් වන මමා මියා! යන නිර්මාණ ද්විත්වයම වෙනත් ස්ථානයක පවත්වන ලද අතර, එහිදී එක් එක් ප්රසංගයේ විවිධ දර්ශන වාර වෙනුවෙන් ප්රවේශපත් 7,000 කට වඩා අලෙවි විය. පසුගිය වසරේ උත්කර්ෂවත් ලෙස විවෘත කිරීමෙන් පසු, සිනමන් ලයිෆ් විසින් තමන්ගේ අති නවීන හෝටල් පරිශ්රයේදී ප්රථම වරට මෙම පරිමාණයේ නිෂ්පාදනයක් ඉදිරිපත් කරන අතර, ජාත්යන්තර මට්ටමේ විනෝදාස්වාදය අත්දැකීමක් ලබාදෙන මධ්යස්ථානයක් ලෙස කොළඹ නගරයේ සුදුසුකම් මේ ඔස්සේ තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් කෙරේ.
ආසන 900 කට අධික ධාරිතාවයකින් නිර්මාණය කර ඇති සිනමන් ලයිෆ් හි ප්රේක්ෂකාගාරය, දියුණු පසුබිම් සහ නාට්යෝපකරණ පහසුකම් සහිත මහා පරිමාණ රංගනයන් සඳහා පහසුකම් සැලසීමට සැකසුණු වේදිකාවක් වේ. ජාත්යන්තර සහ ශ්රී ලාංකික රංගන ශිල්පීන් සඳහා විශිෂ්ඨ ගණයේ වේදිකා පරිසරයක් සපයන මෙහි පුරා දින පහක්, සංදර්ශන හතක් ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම සඳහා සම්පූර්ණ පහසුකම් සහ හැකියාව තිබේ.
මේ පිළිබඳ අදහස් දක්වමින් කොළඹ හෝටල් හි ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ උප සභාපති සහ සිනමන් ලයිෆ් හි සාමාන්යධිකාරී කමල් මුණසිංහ මහතා පැවසුවේ “ලා බම්බා! සමඟින්, අපි කොළඹදී ප්රේක්ෂකයින්ට සුවිශේෂී රංග ශාලාවක නාට්යක් රසවිඳීමේ අත්දැකීම භුක්ති විඳිය හැකි වේදිකාවක් නිර්මාණය කරනවා. නගරයේ සංස්කෘතික ප්රදානයන් පොහොසත් කිරීමට මෙන්ම වෘත්තීය පසුබිමක දේශීය කුසලතා වර්ධනයට සහාය වීම උදෙසා අපගේ කැපවීම මෙම නිෂ්පාදනය මගින් පෙන්නුම් කරනවා,” යනුවෙනි.
ජෝන් කීල්ස් පදනම: සංස්කෘතික සහභාගීත්වයට දක්වන සහයෝගීත්වය
ජෝන් කීල්ස් සමූහයේ ආයතනික සමාජ වගකීම් ආයතනය වන ජෝන් කීල්ස් පදනම (JKF), ලා බම්බා! සඳහා ප්රසංගය ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමේ හවුල්කරු වේ. 2005 වසරේදී පිහිටුවන ලද ජෝන් කීල්ස් පදනම, ජාතික ප්රමුඛතා සමඟ පෙළගැස්වූ ප්රජාවන් හරහා සංවාදය, නිර්මාණශීලිත්වය සහ සමාජ සහජීවනය පෝෂණය කිරීමේදී කලාවන් ඉටු කරන කාර්යභාරය වෙනුවෙන් වූ දිගුකාලීන මුලපිරීම් සඳහා සහාය දක්වනු ලැබේ. ලා බම්බා! හි මෙම ප්රසංග සහභාගීත්වය, රටක් ලෙස අපට ප්රවේශ විය හැකි, උසස් තත්ත්වයේ සංස්කෘතික වේදිකා හරහා ශ්රී ලංකාවේ නිර්මාණාත්මක කර්මාන්තවලට සහාය වීම වෙනුවෙන් දරන තිරසාර උත්සාහයන් පිළිබිඹු කරයි.
