MEDIA RELEASE: DISCOVER THE BEAUTY OF AUTUMN WITH HORNSBY SHIRE’S FREE GUIDED BUSHWALKS

Discover the beauty of autumn with Hornsby Shire Council’s free guided bushwalks
With autumn fast approaching, Hornsby Shire Council has unveiled its upcoming schedule of free guided bushwalks, aimed at providing an educational, safe and enjoyable outdoor experience.
The bushwalking program has something for everyone, with a wide range of events planned, some targeted at beginners looking to take an easy stroll, others to bushwalking enthusiasts looking for a challenging hike.
Bushwalkers will be sure to learn a lot on these outings, with knowledgeable guides and organisers providing fascinating insights into the natural and cultural history of the Bushland Shire. Upcoming guided bushwalks this autumn include: * Blue Gum Walk, Hornsby on Sunday 1 March
* Parks Week Walk – Caring for Nature, Beecroft and Cheltenham on Friday 6 March
* Whale Rock Bushwalk, Pennant Hills on Saturday 14 March
* Jerusalem Bay Bushwalk, Cowan on Saturday 11 April
* Youth Week Walk – Thornleigh to Hornsby via the Great North Walk on Sunday 19 April.
These events are exclusively for Hornsby Shire residents, except for the Youth Week Walk where young people aged 16 to 24 from any Council area are welcome.
Hornsby Shire Mayor Warren Waddell has encouraged residents to take up the opportunity to explore nature with this bushwalking initiative.
“The guided autumn bushwalks offer a fantastic opportunity for residents to immerse themselves in the Bushland Shire’s natural beauty and learn about local plants and wildlife from our experts,” said Mayor Waddell.
The autumn bushwalks are part of Hornsby Shire Council’s rolling program of guided walks which showcase the Bushland Shire through the changing seasons. Programs are announced three times per year and are very popular – residents are advised to book early so they don’t miss out. Bookings are now open for guided walks in early March, while bookings for the later walks will open a month before each walk.
