Sri Lanka has achieved economic stabilisation; however, stability alone will not drive long-term national competitiveness, says global technology entrepreneur Logan Nathan.
At the recent Colombo launch of his latest book, “Think Digital – Rewired for the AI Age,” Nathan delivered a direct message to business leaders: “AI won’t replace people; people using AI will.”
Nathan, Founder and CEO of i4T Global, an international SaaS and PropTech platform operating across Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, argues that artificial intelligence is no longer a future discussion. It is an immediate productivity lever.
From Stability to Scalability
Addressing a diverse audience of ICT professionals, the legal and banking sectors representatives, property developers, entrepreneurs, educators and students at the Port City Colombo launch, Nathan emphasised that Sri Lanka’s next growth phase must focus on AI-enabled productivity across:
• Government operations
• Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
• Education and workforce readiness
• Corporate decision-making systems
“Discipline rescued Sri Lanka. But discipline must now finance ambition. AI-enabled productivity is the next layer,” Nathan stated.
A Leadership Conversation, Not a Technology Manual
Unlike conventional AI publications, “Think Digital – Rewired for the AI Age” is not positioned as a technical handbook. Instead, it serves as a strategic thinking companion for leaders navigating rapid transformation.
• Mindset Shift – Understanding AI as a productivity multiplier
• Skill Shift – Learning how to learn and ask better questions
• Execution Shift – Moving from experimentation to measurable results
The book includes practical use cases, such as AI-driven management reporting that reduces processes from hours to minutes, structured 90-day implementation frameworks, and real-world applications without technological hype.
The SME Imperative
Sri Lanka’s SME sector, which forms the backbone of the economy, stands at a critical inflection point. Nathan cautions against impulsive AI tool adoption without first reviewing internal processes and cost structures.
“Before buying AI tools, businesses must look internally. AI does not fix broken processes, it amplifies them. Internal clarity must precede automation,” he noted.
Youth Advantage and National Readiness
Nathan expressed optimism about Sri Lanka’s younger generation, citing their digital fluency and adaptability. However, he emphasised that leadership decisiveness will
determine national AI readiness.
“AI transformation is not about replacing jobs, it is about upgrading capability,” he added.
