Fundraiser for the scholarship program in memory of Michale Joseph
As we mourn the loss of our dear friend Mike Joseph who passed away recently, a few have approached me to seek a potential scholarship in his memory.
Scholarship program history
It has been 11+ years since the Old Antonian Social Club of Australia (OASC) started the program, and since then we have supported 23 students during this period. Most have gone on to successfully complete the program, gaining employment or entering the University. Although a few (4) have not completed the program the way we intended it to be, we are still proud of the success rate.
The recipients are nominated by the Principal or the Teacher in Charge of the Program and selected by the OASC. OASC members visit the College regularly to meet with the scholarship recipients and teachers and review the student’s reports. Thus, we have a reasonable understanding of their progress, unlike other scholarship programs which have a more hands-off approach.
Current status
Currently, we spend about Rs 90,000 as below. This is a significant commitment undertaken by the club and its members.
Cost
The OASC scholarship program pays a student Rs 10,000 per month. This is requested to be spent on the student on books and stationery, internet, travel and his tuition fees. We are flexible on how the money is spent, as we understand the correlation between a healthy, safe and happy child and their educational outcome; however, we do strongly encourage the payment to be spent in enabling the child’s schooling.

Any donation is greatly appreciated, and we will be informing the student of Mike’s achievements to ensure his legacy lives on within the school and the student you support.
