A MEMO from KK de Silva in  Sri Lanka, 31 January 2024

J. De Silva was a member of the College Photographic Society & trained under Fr. A. De Burra S. J.  He was one of the most versatile students at SAC during our time. Not only did he participate in all  outdoor & indoor sports activities, but he also was involved in Life Saving, First Aid etc. Above all, he was chosen to play a  leading role in every stage play produced at SAC during his time. Some of these were : That Rascal ScapinThe Other Mr. Smith, Soap 13Barber of Seville etc. Attached  photo is from Mr. Hettiarachchi’s collection.

A NOTE from Michael Roberts, 31 January 2024:

While I particpated with Johnnie in cricket, soccer and athletics for St. Aloysius, and in life-saving training sessions and swiming contests in the little harbour of Galle, I was not aware of several other activities where he was so proficient. It is a huge PLUS-MARK to the Jeesuit priests and other teachers of St. Aloysius in the 1940s and 1950s that we not only have Johnnie pursuing wide-ranging activities from THEN into the Now, but that we have another DE SILVA, none other than “KK”‘ aka “Kithsiri, serving as a chronicler today after a productive career in the SL government service that included a stint as Secretary to the “Paranagama Commission” of 2015: that is “The Presidential Commission of Inquiry Into Complaints of Abductions and Disappearances (August 2015).” ……………………………………… https://www.google.com/search?q=Paranagama+Commission+in+Sri+Lanka&rlz=1C1ONGR_en-GBAU957AU957&oq=P
