It is indeed an honour to be elected Mayor at Glen Eira City Council.

Congratulations to Deputy Mayor Cr Simone Zmood.

Congratulations to councillor Anne-Marie Cade who was elected as Mayor and to councillor Simone Zmood elected as Deputy Mayor at last night’s Council Meeting.

Cr Cade said she is deeply honoured to be elected to the role of Mayor. Cr Cade is serving her second term on Council. She has served as Deputy Mayor in 2022–23 Council year and this is her first time serving as Mayor.

She plans to “keep community cohesion at the forefront of our work across all parts of our municipality.” And is “very excited to be part of Glen Eira’s first all-female mayor and deputy mayor team.”

“I am very optimistic for the year ahead and I am very excited to be part of Glen Eira’s first all-female Mayor and Deputy Mayor team. Representation matters and we still have a fair way to go in Australia. Women are still earning less and we have not achieved equal representation in all levels of government. At Glen Eira we are doing our bit to ensure this changes and that women are well represented. We have a majority of female councillors and a female CEO too” Anne-Marie Le Mercier Cade said.

Thank you to our outgoing Mayor Cr Jim Magee  for a stellar two years as Mayor of this city.
