Multicultural Health Week 2024 (2-8 September)

Announcing Multicultural Health Week 2024 Theme and Partnerships 02

Multicultural Health Week 2024 is fast approaching and will be held from 2 September to 8 September this year. It is that time of the year when we work together to raise public awareness of the health needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

The theme of Multicultural Health Week 2024 is promoting healthy eating: Celebrate culture through food with multicultural family lunchboxes.

Multicultural Health Week 2024 is coordinated by the NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service (MHCS) in partnership with the Centre for Population Health, the NSW Ministry of Health, and Cancer Institute NSW.

It is our great pleasure to announce that our community champion for this year, one of Australia’s favourite chefs Adam Liaw, will be promoting healthy eating with his multicultural family lunchbox recipes for school, work, or a day out.

“I’m delighted to be part of Multicultural Health Week this year. Coming from a migrant family, I understand the unique challenges and barriers that multicultural communities may experience in accessing food and practising healthy eating. Whatever your background or culture, the way you eat at home can easily be your inspiration for healthy eating.” – Adam Liaw

MHCS Director Lisa Woodland said for this year’s Multicultural Health Week, the team is thrilled to work with Adam to raise awareness that a healthy lunch can help children and adults have plenty of energy to work, learn and play during the day.

“I am sure Adam’s recipes will inspire families to build their own multicultural lunchboxes with healthy foods including vegetables and fruits.”

MHCS encourages you to follow Adam’s multicultural family lunchbox recipes, celebrate our cultural diversity and promote healthy eating in your workplace, school, or community setting.
