Roy Ratnavel, one of the richest man from Point Pedro is now a Canadian. He was abducted and taken to Boossa camp in 1989 where he and 2500 other youth at the age of 17 were detained and tortured for several months during Operation Liberation.  

His prison number was 1056 and he says that number was his identity and it destroyed who he was.

 He managed to come out of Boossa  and his dad with 50 USD in hand sent him to Canada. Today, a chief executive of a investment of  a Mutual Fund Company managing stakes.

He says , “I’m an accidental Sri Lankan by birth,   have an unapologetic Tamil Heritage and a proud canadian by choice.”

He has written  the book Prisoner #1056″ and the publisher is Penguin Random House   who bought his script.

In 60 days he poured out his life into a book and the first line he typed was …”There 

are places that may surprise you…”

The book will be launched on April 18th in Toronto.
