AN INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE FOR SEPTEMBER 2018 FATHER’S DAY   If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden,   An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45 years old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window. The Father asked his Son, “What is this?” The Son replied “It is a crow”. After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, “What is this?” The Son said “Father, I have just now told you “It’s a crow”. After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, What is this?” At this time some expression of irritation was felt in the Son’s tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. “It’s a crow, a crow”. A little after, the Father again asked ...

A JUMBO CONFLICT- By Desmond Kelly “CONFLICTING VIEWS” (On a JUMBO CONFLICT) Now, taking the spotlight away from an American Enigma, and North Korean, Russian, & Chinese question marks!, we have “Breaking-bloody-news”(pardon the pun), from Sri Lanka. Several conflicting views, as a matter of fact, from various intelligent journalists of the “Daily Mirror”. As a confirmed “Animal-lover”, it would seem quite natural that I would have no conflicting views, whatsoever, on this subject, but I understand perfectly, that this huge, but beautiful animal, could sometimes be harmful to humans, raid their farms and territories, ruin their crops, etc.,as a matter of fact, it is now happening much more frequently. Still, this is quite reasonable to expect, as the population of this tiny Island increases every day, areas that are “home” to the elephant become much less “elephantine” (pardon the pun, again!), and, as such, Jumbo has no alternative but to ...

Iluka to Build  Industrial-Scale Mineral Separation Plant   The Puttalam mineral sands deposit, if developed, has the potential to deliver considerable economic and social benefits to Sri Lanka by way of mineral royalties, employment, terms of trade, and skills and technical development, Iluka’s Head of Resource Development, Simon Hay said. Australia’s Iluka currently holds several mineral exploration licenses in the Puttalam district and earlier the company estimated that its Puttalam mineral sands deposit has 56 million tonnes of titanium-bearing heavy minerals, enough to support a mining operation with a life in excess of 20 years. “Sri Lanka is a democratic, developing economy with an educated workforce and a desire for responsible foreign investment. Iluka has over 60 years’ industry experience and a track record of sustainable development. So, in many respects, this project offers the prospect of a natural partnership between the company, government and local community,” Hay said following ...

“TRAINING OF MEGHAN” by Desmond Kelly    The newest member of Britain’s Royal Family, for the 1st time, an American ” beauty rose” instead of an English one, has been “accepted” by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, after marrying one of her favourite grandsons, Prince Harold, better known as “Harry”, 2nd “bluey”(in Aussie terms), to the heir of the British throne. Meghan, just like her famous Grand-dad, Prince Charles’ beautiful ex-wife Diana (God rest her soul), will have to learn many lessons on Royal protocol, and riding on the Royal train, with her “grand- mother-in-law” is simply one of them.      In writing this introduction, I cannot help but remember the old “kuchu-kuchus” of Ceylon’s C.G.R., plus the old “red- rattlers” of old Melbourne town, which, believe it or not, had air-conditioning. If you wanted to be cool, you simply wound the old windows down, as you were ...
