CONCERN OF EVERY COUNTRY IS ONLY SELF INTEREST – By N.S.Venkataraman

CONCERN OF EVERY COUNTRY IS ONLY SELF INTEREST - By N.S.Venkataraman

N.S.VenkataramanIndia has now proposed to send  a delegation of members of parliament  to  selected countries abroad to explain  India’s stand with regard to the recent conflict  with Pakistan and  to convince the other countries about the  justification for India’s actions.

In the overall geo political scenario , the approach of every country to various issues is based only on self interest and with little consideration for principles and fair play . The ground reality is that the world is, by and large , conflict ridden  and strife torn , with  no permanent enemies or no permanent friends between countries , with relationship constantly  being altered between  countries based  on   developing scenario and the priorities of individual countries.

Global communication network is now  very strong and every  country knows what is happening in other countries. Therefore, the countries know what the Indian delegation would say even before receiving them.

In such circumstances, it is likely that the delegates from India visiting other countries to explain  India’s  stand would  be received with courtesy and listened .   Obviously, the approach of other countries would only be based on their  trade and other relationship with India  and Pakistan in the present geo political condition , without considering the  merits of the explanations offered by the Indian delegates.

No doubt, there is global concern about terrorism and acts of terrorists and the fact that such terrorists  have a base to operate in a few countries, without which they cannot operate and execute their terrorist activities. However, condemnation of the countries harbouring the terrorists by individual countries  is  only based on  their  overall trade and other aspects of relationship with  such countries  known  to be offering base to terrorists.

Today,  a number of countries  face acts of terrorism on their soil in one form or the other and ultimately,  the affected countries are left to themselves to  fight against terrorism on their soil.

Every country has no option other than defending itself from terrorist attacks   and war like situation  by strengthening its economic , industrial and military base . This is really what is really happening.

In such scenario, the United Nations is conspicuous by its lack of effectiveness in avoiding conflict in the world . If UNO is effective, then  there would be no need for India to send  delegates to other countries to explain its stand even  without being invited by other countries to do so.

India has to send the delegates to explain its stand to other countries for whatever it is worth ,so that misinformation would not spread ,  as the  U N as a forum  has  lost its significance.
