Cricket gear for 28 schools from Melbourne-by Dhammika Ratnaweera

Silva Spin Bowling Foundation in Melbourne, Australia together with Dr.Frank Chen came forward to donate Cricket Materials to 28 underprivileged Schools in Sri Lanka. The event was held at Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya. The women’s cricket convener of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Apasari Tillekaratne and former National cricket paceman Nuwan Zoysa were present on this occasion as Chief Guests. Former Sri Lanka ‘A’ leg spinner Suranjith Silva, the head of Silva Spin Bowling Foundation made coordination to deliver the sport gear to schools with lack of facilities to continue this sport and it was highly praised by the respective school principals, staff members and cricketers’ parents especially at this hard period.

This event was possible due to the generous contribution done by Dr.Frank Chen and all the donors in Melbourne Australia.The cricket gears donated to selected schools such as Rajasinghe Vidyalaya Hanwella, Raddoluwa MV, Padukka Piyaratna MV, Homagama MV, Dikwella Vijitha MMV, Wanduramba MMV Galle, Wadduwa MMV, Okkampitiya Vidyalaya Monaragala, Vidyaloka MV Balangoda, Lumbini College Colombo, Kolonna National School, Sri Buddha Jayanthi Central, Ella Nawalagama MV, Handapangala MV, Kubukkana Pangngananda MV Monaragala, Polonnaruwa Jayasiripura Primary School, Haliela Central, Great cricket school, Monaragala. Most of these schools recently started cricket at junior level and they have lot of difficulties to continue this sport. The donation from Silva Spin Bowling Foundation gave big boost to this schools.

Meanwhile Silva Spin Bowling Foundation gave their special appreciation to Sapumal Sanjeewa, Dinesh Weerasinghe, Vernon Tissera,Yasantha (Trico Melbourne), who have given fine support to make this event a success.
