DEMISE OF WINANT JURIANSZ FOrMERLY OF BRITISH BANK OF THE MIDDLE EAST & HSBC 0MAN

Saddened to learn  the Demise of Winant Juriansz, fondly known as “Jurie” in Oman.

He joined British Bank of the Middle East latterly known as HSBC Oman in the late Seventies leaving Sri Lanka on a Christmas Day.

In Sri Lanka, I met Wynant during the late Sixties when he visited his relative the Late Aubrey Moses who was my neighbour separated by a wall in Wedikande Rd Mt Lavinia.

Each time Wynant visited Aubrey,  as the Administrator of the Muscat 80’s Facebook Post below confirms,  we would hear Juire  sing late into the night with the then popular songs relayed over Radio Ceylon!!!!

I later met Jurie in Oman and when I visited his BBME Quarters known as I believe as “SQ 21” he was playing John Denvers’ Country Road  in full blast that pounded the neighboured. I felt inclined to dance entering the building  but did not have my Soulmate besides me. I was taking him for his  Driving Lessons. He had a Volkswagen Passat and he never let me down and passed the Test in the first attempt. Well done Jurie!!!!

Yes,  we enjoyed his  Music that he rocked at the several parties we had in Muscat. There are many who will vouch that he had an amazing Voice and a Great Strummer with the Guitar. He made everyone at a party join him hilariously  sing the chorus  ” Without a Pair of Pants”   led by  the All Ceylon Rugby Legend the Late Sari De Sylva when he sang Tony Brents “In My Little Room”. Precious & Nostalgic Memories.

Each time Sri Lanka’s Gold FM plays this number on their airways,  stinging memories flashes across me even though it’s many years after those beautiful moments.

We pray for his  adorable family Eunice, Karen & Apollo Philip & Melonie and join them  during this difficult time to grieve over his loss.

We trust that the Divine & Merciful Lord will give them and their bereaved family the strength to face this moment of grief very courageously.

We shall remember him in our Prayers. May His Soul Rest In Eternal Peace in Safe Arms of The Lord.

Condolences may be relayed to Karen Philip paradisekj2012@gmail.com Apollo Philip a.philip@sbcglobal.com and  Melonie Juriansz melaniet@sltnet.lk
