Ernest Thalayasingam MacIntyre Award

Ernest Thalayasingam MacIntyre Award

Nautanki Theatre is proud to announce the Ernest Thalayasingam MacIntyre Award, recognising an individual of South Asian heritage for their outstanding contribution to theatre and the arts in Australia.

This award is named in honour of Uncle Ernest, whose visionary legacy has shaped intercultural performance across six decades in both Australia and Sri Lanka. His pioneering work continues to inspire generations of artists and storytellers. Through this award, we celebrate excellence, resilience, and creative leadership within South Asian communities, locally and globally.

The inaugural award will be presented on Saturday, 26 July 2025 at 5:00 PM in the Riverside Theatres Courtyard, Parramatta.

This celebration coincides with the 10th anniversary of Nautanki Theatre’s flagship event, the Annual Theatre Mela, a four-day festival (24–27 July) showcasing the rich, diverse voices of the South Asian diaspora through powerful storytelling and live performance.

Join us in honouring a decade of impact and the changemakers shaping the future of Australian theatre.

I’ll look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Neel Banerjee

Founder of Nautanki Theatre Company
