Vedhalam is an upcoming 2015 Indian Tamil action film written and directed by Siva, and produced by S. Aishwarya. The film stars Ajith Kumar, Shruti Haasan, Lakshmi Menon, Aniket Chouhan, Kabir Singh and many others in the lead roles. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music and the background score.
Casting
Tamannaah and Hansika Motwani had been originally considered for the lead pair but finally Shruti Haasan was chosen.Kabir Singh was selected to portray the negative role in the film since the filmmakers were impressed with his performance in Telugu film Jil (2015).Later Vidyullekha Raman revealed that she did a small flashback part in the second half of the film.
Filming
The film was launched in Madras on 9 April 2015 with a pooja by A. M. Rathnam, Siva and other crew members. The shooting of the movie started on 7 May 2015. The director intended to can the first schedule of this film in Calcutta as the story is set there but decided to erect sets at the Binny Mills and complete a major portion of the shooting in Chennai.
