First Capital Partners with Sri Lanka Rugby in the Asia Rugby Division 1 Tournament

First Capital - SL Rugby

30th April 2024, Colombo:  First Capital, the pioneering investment institution in Sri Lanka, proudly announces its support for Sri Lanka Rugby as their “Performance Partner” in the Asia Rugby Division 1 Tournament.  This partnership marks the first time First Capital has aligned with a national team, signalling a significant milestone in their commitment to supporting and empowering sports in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka presents a strong and experienced 30-member team, featuring standout players from CR & FC, Havelock SC, Police SC, CH & FC, Kandy SC, Army SC, Navy SC, and Air Force. Head Coach Sanath Martis leads an exceptional coaching panel, supported by forward Coach Dushanth Lewke and Backs Coach Nilfer Ibrahim. The Asia Rugby Division 1 Tournament is of immense importance to Sri Lanka, marking the return of international rugby to the country after a four-year hiatus.

Scheduled to take place at the Racecourse Ground in Colombo, the tournament will feature a knockout format, with the first day being April 30th. On this day, Qatar will face off against Kazakhstan in the first semi-final at 16:00 local time, followed by the hosts competing against India. The action continues on May 4th, with the team that doesn’t advance from the semi-final contending for third place at 16:00, and the winners battling it out for the championship title at 19:00 local time.

Randinith Madanayake, Head of Marketing at First Capital, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration is historic for us. It’s the first time First Capital is supporting a national team. As the Asia Rugby Division 1 ‘Performance Partner,’ we’re thrilled to stand by the Sri Lankan team, and we’re confident that the team will make Sri Lanka proud. On behalf of the entire First Capital team, I’d like to wish our national team a great tournament.”

With the aim of fostering Sri Lankan sporting talent and promoting sportsmanship, First Capital has proudly supported multiple disciplines in recent years, including tennis, golf, and, of course, rugby. Particularly noteworthy is the company’s role as the platinum sponsor for the victorious CR&FC Rugby team in 2023 league.

With anticipation mounting among fans across Asia and within Sri Lanka, the eagerly awaited return of the Sri Lanka Rugby team to international competition is generating palpable excitement, First Capital eagerly anticipates a thrilling tournament.
