GENTLEMAN CRICKETERS

by Quintus de Zylva

Kumar Dharmasena was recently in Canberra as the umpire in an ODI between Australia and New Zealand. He was invited to the Sri Lankan embassy by Skanda where he met the staff of the embassy.

Roshan Mahanama was an invited guest of the Sri Lanka Cricket Foundation of Victoria some months back when he was match referee at his last engagement for the ICC.

Kumar, Skanda and Roshan have been distinguished Sri Lankan cricketers in their time. Apart from their performances on the field they have distinguished themselves as the embodiment of all that is gentlemanly in this noble game of cricket. Sri Lanka is no doubt proud to have had men of such caliber fly the Sri Lankan flag high at all times. Their contribution to the game of cricket and to their country is something that all of us appreciate and will long remember.
