GOOD NEWS, HABITS & FOOD

by Desmond Kelly ‘the Star of eLanka’

Good news, habits & food will never let you down.

It is quite difficult, but my friend in America, Jayam R. tries his best over there while “your’s truly”, Des.K, does his best, to try his best, IN the BEST Country in the World, which of course, is Australia.

Good news, for all ex Lankans in Australia, is now produced by the very best Website simply called e’Lanka, which again, is quite difficult, because our World, out there, is getting “crazier” by the minute.

So far, the Australian-Media is second to none. WHY? Reading between the lines, so to speak, my judgement of our Social-Media is self-explanatory. A HUGE Media coverage of the tragic Manchester disaster & deservedly so, BUT, an entire Village area in Lanka is practically “wiped-out”, hundreds of hapless Villagers are found deceased, hundreds more, homeless, pitiful domestic “pets” roaming the Streets, also starving, & “our coverage” of this TRAGEDY, minimum, at MOST.

More “good news” is that an Australian Philanthropist by the name of Andrew Forrest has just “donated” about FOUR HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS for various charities. Good on you, Andrew, you are one GREAT “Gentleman” so it isn’t too late for a ” small donation” to help the truly “needy” in these flooded-out Villages rebuild their lives, would be most welcome, I am sure.

If you read this, Andrew, THANK YOU in anticipation.

To come to the “HABITS”in the above “title”, let’s put it this way. I am “going-back” into the past, a little, but I once worked (part-time) in a soap factory, and it was only to TIDE me over.(always use soap when washing your hands).I couldn’t have stood it for very long. Not on your LIFE, BOY! .I wore blue jeans with a LATHER belt & struck a bold figure. The job didn’t DAZZLE me.

Most of the men I worked with thought I was a SURF.
I made a PACKET out of it but got ill & FLAKED out.
What an absolute SUD I was.

Finally, “FOOD”, are you getting bored? , Keep on reading, thats the “drill”. After this, it should be “plane” sailing. Thats the “tack” & vice-versa. Now,”brace” yourself for a “bit”. They prod you in the “ribs” as they do their puns in the “Punjab’. Some “cocks” actually lay “eggs” in India. They are called the “Himalayas”.

True story. I once took part in a musical on stage, in Ceylon, based on a Jewish Gentleman working in a “Pickle” factory in India . It was called “Goys & Dills”.
Still, in India, I visited the home of an Indian Couple in Delhi. I said to his wife, who met me at the door, “are you Hindu?”, She said “we are, but we’re going out in a
few minutes”.

We have a famous Caterer in Melbourne whose name is “CURRY & CHIPS”. In Mumbai, India, they have a place called “CASH & CARRY”. Live well, eat well, & I hope you ARE well. If you are, I am in the SAME WELL. !
