Visitor Economy Strategy sets bold vision for Liverpool’s future

Liverpool City Council has unveiled its Draft Visitor Economy Strategy, setting out a bold roadmap to position Liverpool as a vibrant, inclusive and globally recognised destination.

The draft strategy is now on public exhibition, with Council inviting residents, businesses and industry stakeholders to have their say.

Mayor Ned Mannoun said the strategy responds to Liverpool’s rapid growth, extraordinary cultural diversity and the transformative impact of the new Western Sydney International Airport.

“Liverpool is on the cusp of generational change,” Mayor Mannoun said.

“With the Western Sydney International Airport opening the door to the world, we have an unprecedented opportunity to showcase our city’s culture, innovation and community spirit on a global stage.”

The vision of the strategy: Experience Liverpool: A vibrant, inclusive, and innovative global city – where culture, business, and community come together to inspire belonging, opportunity, and discovery is underpinned by six strategic pillars:

  • Destination Marketing
  • Vibrant and Activated Places
  • Evening Economy
  • Heritage, Culture and Community
  • Enabling the Visitor Economy
  • Industry Collaboration

Mayor Mannoun said the strategy focuses on increasing visitation, overnight stays and visitor spending, while strengthening Liverpool’s unique identity.

“Liverpool is one of Australia’s most diverse communities. Our multicultural heritage, rich First Nations history and dynamic food and arts scene are powerful drawcards,” he said.

“This strategy will help us invest in infrastructure, activate our night-time economy, support local businesses and create jobs for our community.”

Council is particularly focused on leveraging major infrastructure projects to position Liverpool as a key gateway to Western Sydney.

“We want to hear from our community,” Mayor Mannoun said.
