Darrell Lieversz was a talented swing bowler who captained Royal College in 1962.
Darrell made his international debut for Ceylon in 1964 against the visiting Australians. His best bowling performance for Ceylon was against Pakistan in 1964. The Pakistani batsman struggled against his swing bowling during the match and Ceylon registered its first ever “Unofficial” Test win. He was also part of the Ceylon team when it registered its first ever win overseas in 1965 when Ceylon beat India in India in the 2nd ” unofficial” Test match. To this day, Sri Lanka has not defeated India in India in a “Test” or “unofficial Test” match since this match.
Darrell Lieversz was also a talented athlete who represented Ceylon in the Asian Games
