An orator is a person who is a skilled public speaker. One does not need to be a teacher, politician, or businessman to be a good orator. A good orator can be differentiated based on how powerful the speech is, how strongly it moves the audience, how captivating and bonding it is to the audience. The world needs powerful orators who could guide people in making a change.
Nilanthi Kottahachchi born on 21st August 1989 is an adult female, a wife, and a mother of two young children a resident of Daham Lane,Indrajith Mawatha, Thanthirimulla Road, Panadura . Nilanthi is a novice to politics in Sri Lanka winning a seat from the Kalutara district momentarily within two years into joining the National People’s Power .Nilanthi is an Attorney at Law graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo having since joined the ‘Panadura Unofficial Bar As a novice to politics her polling 131375 votes should be said as incredible was only second to the present cabinet spokesman veteran Dr Nalinda Jayatissa having pushed veteran Dr Nihal Abeysinghe by a huge margin into third place who polled 96,721votes.This achievement of Nilanthi Kotahachchi as a novice to politics has to he be acclaimed to unprecedented to tall elevations to be elected as a Member of Parliament in November 2024 NPP government. However was not considered to be a deputy Minister as she was only a novice to NPP.Nilanthi had addresses many NPP meetings in Kalutara district when she was applauded keeping the audiences spellbound with her authoritarian and dominant factual speeches
Nilanthi is actively involved with many activities involving NPP members particularly involving women MP’s been an active member of the Women Parliamentarian’s CASCUS which is a mechanism which unites women members of Parliament irrespective of political affiliations Nilanthi had. been invited for her aptitude in all round knowledge to many events, had participated in discussions in many medias including television .As in elections meetings and in parliament she speaks very impressively. Very fluent in the Sinhalese vernacular. In a recent ITN television in the program “Thulawa’ Nilanthi participated with three other women two were Attorneys at law. She was the most impressive among the four particularly in knowing well the history of women’s participation in politics from year 1931 to date. All know that it was the NPP who promoted supporting women’s participation in parliament which is now a record with over twenty female members.
Nilanthi with other Members of Parliament had visited Ratnapura to celebrate International Women’s Day the other day. On the occasion of the114th International Women’s Day, with the Ratnapura District Women’s Day celebration which was held at the Provincial Auditorium to which many members attended with great excitement and enthusiasm. Sans advertising space in the auditorium was flowing with women causing more pain owing to congestion than happiness Nilanthi had stressed we celebrated the Sri Lankan woman this March where the whole world lines up to celebrate femininity by theming “Rights, equality and empowerment for all women” irrespective of cast, creed ,religion or status in life. As women, should celebrate with the village path not conducing to proper living to which we had proceeded to come until 2025 by overcoming various political, economic, social and cultural obstacles. The theme this year also was about our responsibility not to allow the daughters of our country the difficult travel routes , periods that many have passed. Our own government has started creating the world that we wished for togetherness by most of the population of the country in the motherland. For Nilanthi it had been a blessing to be at the celebration where women’s and children’s affairs ministry was celebrating womanhood.
To positive social attitudes towards women, to build a country that doesn’t matter to be injustice towards the law, but to build a country without being subjected to injustice, to ignore gender society that doesn’t question being a woman on the way to leadership, and build a country without violence. Let’s stay dedicated to this stance rigidly was what their accepted slogan.Let’s recognize the power of femininity, be more empowered economically, socially and attitude, unite, through it, pull the pride of the nation, by development. Let’s cry out the pride of Sri Lankan womanhood to the country and to the whole world was the theme on the International Women’s Day.
Victory for the Sri Lankan women was the wish, at this moment of celebrating International Women’s Day . They had cordially invite all to join hands as women as Sri Lankan citizens to a valiant journey towards ,”A rich nation -cum beautiful life”.On a another World Women’s Day a program at Nilanthi’s native Panadura was conducted by Panadura Municipal Council with many facilities for the residents like a medical clinic with a valuable lecture by Community Health Medical officer also a Psychiatric counselling clinic Also on creating a safer environment for women which perhaps is a responsibility of everyone. A psychology counselling clinic with special lecture conducted by Sub-Police Inspector of Panadura Children and Women Bureau on the steps that should be taken to create a safer environment for women which should be the responsibility of everybody .It was an useful interesting program with a special lecture delivered by Entrepreneur Janahita Varusha Vithana on how women should be economically empowered and the manner to overcome challenges. Member of Parliament Nilanthi Kotahachchi will be undertaking such social work for the benefit of her Kalutara , Panadura people to boost the living standards of all constituents which for her is her prime duty.
