The 97th birthday celebration of Dr Harold Gunatillake was a warm, intimate gathering with family only, held at Senani Restaurant in Kandy on December 7th, 2025.
At Senani’s restaurant in Kandy town, Where laughter sparkled, wine poured down,
Michelle and Sugeewa, with loving care, Gathered the tribe for joy to share.
Relatives gathered, stories spun, The evening glowed, a dream begun.
Then came the children, bright and grand, Five nieces, two nephews, a stylish band.
They lit the room with glamour’s flame, Excitement danced, affection came.
Dinner was served, a feast divine, Each dish is a jewel, each toast a sign.
A single candle, flame so bright,
I was blown away with hearts alight.
The band struck chords, the voices soared, “Happy Birthday!” in love outpoured.
The cake was cut, the music played, Memories deep, forever laid.
And sweetest moment, purest bliss, Grand nieces’ hugs, their tender kiss.
It was a family’s warm embrace, A timeless joy, a sacred space.
This night will shine on memory’s lane, A dream fulfilled, love’s sweet refrain.
