NAVEESHA- A STAR IS BORN AFTER HER SEMI FINAL TRIUMPH AT VOICE SRI LANKA SEASON ONE IS SOUGHT AFTER TO SING IN TELIVISION-by Sunil Thenabadu

Sunil-Thenabadu

Naveesha Sooriyaarachchi  is a resident of Pannipitiya had attended initially at  Kottawa North Dharmapala  Vidyalaya, subsequently  for her secondary education at Kotte Ananda Balika Vidyalaya where she had opted to proceed in the ‘commerce’ stream following her elder sisters.. Naveesha had studied music only for her ‘O’ Levels from the Kottawa North Dharmapala  Vidyalaya not from any source  elsewhere later.. She had reminisced the first time she had used a microphone on school stage at which she evoked her music teachers, Champika and Nayana at which she had sung only on school’s stage who were the duo who groomed her originally. Naveesha had applied to The  ‘Voice’ Sri Lanka 2021 Season 1 organised  by  Sirasa Television a highly appreciated and viewed by Sri Lankans in overseas countries too along with her elder sister Maleesha. At her tender age of eighteen years before even sitting for her advanced level examination Maneesha had applied following her sister Maleesha. At the ‘blind and battle’ rounds her coach Umariya Sinhawansa had been the person who had recognised Naveesha’s talent initially. It was Umariya Sinhawansa who has been a huge inspiration, boost and encouragement  on her musical journey always advised her ‘not to give up’ when feeling deeply unhappy demoralized and unmotivated .Naveesha too  possesses the salient  features of coach Umaria which had been commented by many, her appearance too. As a novice for her to become runner up on the Voice Sri Lanka season 1 stage was extremely creditable as this was her first exposure in a musical contest. Not only music but about life’s essence  and teaching of Umaria was taught to her  Naveesha also paid tribute to coaches Bathiya and Kasun, the former once made a standing ovation to Naveesha while Kasun complimented her as ‘perfect singing’ after she sang, .these tributes were worth its value in gold to Naveesha after she performed in the contest. She had kept silent after for a while attending to her academic studies before continuing her career in singing which she intends pursuing as a career,.

Also at a recent ‘Ahankara Nagare ‘ program when she sang a song with music composition of BnS , the host ‘Bathiya’ applauded immensely her rendition of ‘Rankurahan Mal..NaNaNe’ . She is one who makes maximum use of any opportunity that comes her way which undeniably paves the way for further opportunities but as she matures, she hopes to select them more prudently. At all podiums Naveesha when vocalizing makes all versions entirely hers in her usual inimitable elegance, a hallmark representation of her short music career .

The concert ‘Akasa Suththera’  for which she was invited to, at which she was propelled when she was a lesser known image which she herself stated as ‘unique’ over the other concerts she had partaken which was witnessed by a  house full spectators. The time she had joined ‘Voice’ as she has had an enthusiasm to sing but not trained or learned music  with her music familiarity at zero level , but to date she recollects her beginning of the singing career was indisputably the ‘Voice’ Sri Lanka 2021 Season 1.  She sang though still a novice impressively many songs v.i.z ‘ ‘Prathihare’ and ‘Sitha Obata Muwawee’ impressively in the blind and battle rounds  Naveesha strongly believes competition with counterparts assisted her to climb the ladder to be elevated to some level of  ‘stardom’ by becoming ’unique’. predominantly lending her influence and engrossment to give the industry ‘a boost’ by contributing to music. This statement made by a novice artiste like Naveesha  at a television dialogue was  very prudent indeed
Naveesha is the youngest sibling having two elder sisters. All could sing  with innate aptitudes not heriditary. The elder sister Maleesha , Naveesha added could sing much better having taken part at school .concerts and competitions Maleesha too had applied beside Naveesha had competed in the ‘Voice’ but had not been able to ensue as Naveesha Voice is an international television singing competition franchise of Dutch origin based on this reality competition. Maleesha  her elder sister showed her singing proficiency when the two sisters participated in the Youth Art Beat  program in a widespread television channel at which she sang Kasun Kalhara’s song  ‘Meedum Dumaraya’ to stun the presenters and viewers. Also, at the same television compendium the sisters Naveesha and Maneesha sang as a duet for the first time, the song of Nanda Malini ‘Araliya Landata’ also splendidly. But owing to her professional work in ‘taxation’  trade. though talented had not found time to concentrate on singing, however she hopes to return to singing soon with the wish of her newly married  husband. Both her sisters are  now married are living away from their dwelling. The three sisters had occupied one room after their marriages Naveesha lives all alone in the room, hence she reminisces she sleeps with the room light on as sleeping alone. Her father is engaged in his own proprietary business is  strict person which she likes as discipline is indispensable, the one who accompanies her to all events unhesitatingly. Her mother as reminisced  by Naveesha is a very painstaking housewife who possess immense tolerance whose guidance is cherished by Naveesha, while she trails  in social media which is vital for any artiste . It was admitted by Naveesha that she is serious in following her social media comments to which she receives only an insignificant number of bad remarks.

During a very short period after her triumph in the Voice 2021 Sri Lanka Season 1  Naveesha had got several invitations to sing on diverse stages in many television channels for programs like .’Sihinayaki Re’, ‘Youth Art Beat’ Imorich Tunes; ‘Piyum Neela Wila’, ‘Ahankara Nagare’,’Jeevithaya Ida Denna’ etc at which she sang mostly solo songs of many popular artistes to receive applause of the respective hosts. Some of the songs to recollect are ‘Pawila Kodu Akase’,’Pahan Niwana Reyaka’.,’Gum Nade’,’Kavurunda Kawluwe’,’Api Hamuwuna Thena’., “Ayemath Adaren’, ‘Kiyanna Rankanda’,”Hithin Yana Aya’,’Mal MitakThiyanne’ , ‘Ahasin Eha’ all which were melodious songs sung by Naveetha so perfectly to precision  sans any nervousness though a novice still.

Naveesha is already planning to compose her own songs , the journey she had already begun having brought so much emotion connected with the audience with passion in her voice highly effective having unique energy when performing   It is her intention to record many songs in the near future  and in two years or so hope to enjoy the contentment when they become hits, all her followers and fans would wish her to achieve her future intentions.
