Nimal Chandrasena’s second book, "Looking For Doug" and Nimal’s 3rd book scheduled to be released mid-2026 “Ceylon's Cricketing Journey, The First Hundred Years, 1832 to 1932”

Nimal Chandrasena with Doug Walters – October 2024

“Nimal Chandrasena is a Weed Scientist by profession. He published his first book “The Virtuous Weed” in January 2023. He has also spent a lifetime wallowing in cricket history. His second book, “Looking For Doug”, was the outcome of Nimal following the career of the legendary Australian cricketer – Kevin Douglas Walters. Doug broke into Test Cricket in December 1965. Since then, Nimal “looked” for Doug and finally met him in 2009. They continue to be good friends in Sydney.

“Before migrating to Australia, Nimal was an Associate Professor of Botany at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal WEEDS (The Official Journal of the Asian-Pacific Weed Science Society). He lives in Australia and is a well-published scholar.

“His third book is on Ceylon’s Cricketing Journey, The First Hundred Years, 1832 to 1932, which is scheduled for publication and release in mid-2026.

A sequel to the book, likely to be produced in 2027, will cover Ceylon’s final journey to Test status in 1981-82, followed by the great triumph of winning the ODI World Cup in 1996.”
