Nirmal Saverimuttu Chief Executive Officer Virgin Voyages
Nirmal Saverimuttu joined Virgin Voyages in January 2015 and was appointed the company’s Chief Executive Officer in September 2023.
Previously, Nirmal served as President and Chief Experience Officer, responsible for all passenger, crew and commercial operations at Virgin Voyages. In this role Nirmal shaped the company’s award winning experience on its fleet of 3 cruise vessels.
Virgin Voyages is the Virgin branded cruise line operating under the Virgin umbrella of businesses. The Company operates 3 vessels that have won numerous awards and accolades including a first ever clean sweep of all five 2023 Cruise Critic awards (best cruise line, best dining, best service, best cabins and best value for money), Travel and Leisure’s 2023 Best Cruise Line and Cosmopolitan’s Must Visit List. The company’s flagship, Scarlet Lady, has the prestigious position of garnering the most 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor.
Nirmal is part of the founding team of Virgin Voyages where he crafted the Company’s initial business plan and sourced the Company’s multi-billion dollar start-up funding.
Before joining Virgin Voyages, Nirmal served as Principal at Virgin Group (Richard Branson’s investment office) based in New York City, where he oversaw Virgin’s investments in North America with a focus particularly on the funding, creation and management of Virgin America (USA based domestic airline) and Virgin Hotels (USA based boutique hotel management company). Prior to that, Nirmal worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs & Co.
Nirmal is Sri Lankan-Australian, was born in Zambia and has lived in London, Sydney and New York City. He now resides in Florida with his wife Leandra and 2 children. Nirmal has an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honors) from the University of Sydney.
Nirmal is the son of Selva and Dilini Saverimuttu, Sri Lankan born Australians living in Sydney.
