Sands of Home – Vocal: Siera Keyt Studio Producer: Dodwell Keyt
One of my recent music creations about our homeland and the memories i still carry.
Sands of Home is a song very close to my heart. It grew from my memories of childhood in Sri Lanka, those wonderful, carefree years spent in a tropical country whose sights, sounds and colours have remained with me throughout my life.
I remember the warmth of the mornings, the call of a distant crow, sunlight filtering through the trees, monsoon rain, golden beaches and those magnificent tropical evenings when the sky seemed to turn crimson before nightfall. They are simple memories, but they are the memories that make a childhood and, in many ways, make us who we are.
Like so many Sri Lankans who now live in different parts of the world, I may be far from the island, but a part of me has never really left. Distance has a curious way of making the small things we once took for granted become particularly precious.
Sands of Home is my musical reflection on those memories, a song about childhood, belonging and the enduring affection we carry for the country we once called home.
I hope that, wherever in the world you may be today, the song brings back a few memories of your own.
