World Travel Awards (WTA) has announced its landmark 30th anniversary and WTA World Gala Ceremony 2023 to be staged in one of the world’s most exciting emerging tourism destination, Sri Lanka, and the leading travel industry figureheads from across all the continents will be invited to this must-attend VIP event on 15th December 15, 2023 in Colombo.

This is the first time in history such an event to be held in the entire South Asian region’ said State Minister of Tourism, Diana Gamage.

“The World Travel Awards brand is today acknowledged globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence, and we have been working tirelessly over the past three months to secure its landmark 30th anniversary and WTA World Gala Ceremony 2023 to be staged in Sri Lanka.”

‘World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Today, the World Travel Awards brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence’ said Graham Cooke, Founder and the President of the World Travel Awards.

‘Each year World Travel Awards covers the globe with its Grand Tour – a series of regional gala ceremonies to recognise excellence within each continent, culminating with the winners going head-to-head in a Grand Final at the end of the year.”

“World Travel Awards gala ceremonies are regarded as milestone events in the travel calendar, attended by the industry’s key decision-makers, figureheads, influencers and media. The program, its winners and its sponsors are represented globally on social media, with fresh daily content across multiple platforms’ he further added.

‘With this we are not only hoping to promote Sri Lanka as the world’s most exciting emerging tourism destination but also to clear any negative publicity that has been spread through international media in the recent past as we are expecting industry figureheads from over 100 countries to participate in this memorable moment’ said Dr. Arosha Fernando, Coordinating Secretary of the State Tourism Ministry and the newly appointed Private Secretary to the State Minister of Tourism.
