“GOD MADE SPINOZA TOO” – By Des Kelly  The Author of this . piece of.,~ writing is unfortunately unknown, yet it was sent in to me by my good friend, Artist/Cartoonist Max. Gerreyn and certainly merits inclusion on  e’Lanka,  so let us get it on, forthwith. The title (above) comes from me. I was born a Roman Catholic, have lived my life so far, as one, and will die, a Roman Catholic. I am not, in any sense of the word (or phrase), a “Church pillar”, however I DO BELIEVE IN GOD. There is only the ONE GOD, and it is quite obvious now, that this ALMIGHTY is fed-up with the World that HE created just recently, in the context of time. When God made us, HE created each & everyone with a brain. He then expected us to use this brain to live our lives as we should, in ...

“DEFINITELY DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS” – By Des Kelly   Sent in specifically for e’Lanka, by Keith Bennett, for which we thank him, are the above “D”s, all three of them. Just shows what can be done with this superb language (ENGLISH), that is now becoming even more important in both Sri Lanka and Australia, where there are Drastic multitudes of Damned languages to cope with, (believe me),my alias is Desperate Des, this Daft, Deadly, Definitely, Different,   ...

“AGE, IS SIMPLY A NUMBER” – By Des Kelly   Who Tim is, no-one knows. Much less, his “Tantalising Ticklers”. However, he has introduced this supposed tickler quite adequately, even though it is not really funny because, as I have titled this piece (see above), I quickly follow this up, telling all my family and friends “stay young, try not to get old”, and mean what I say.           Anyway, now let us get onto Tim and his introduction to this very informative and interesting video. Amazing, what technology let’s us do. ...

“A FAMOUS PETERITE” – by Des Kelly  He goes into the record books of my late Alma-Mater, St.Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya, Colombo, as the first Inspector General of Police who studied there. This most interesting brief-biog., was sent out to me by our good friend Keith Bennett, and I am proud to say that Chandra Fernando’s story clearly shows the calibre of some exceptional students who, in later life, kept the gold, silver, and blue flag flying high, this time as an I.G.P. (top rung of the Police ladder). We, at e’Lanka  do congratulate him, and voice our thanks to Keith Bennett, in the process.   Desmond Kelly.          “PUN-FUN, ON THE RUN” – by Des Kelly  MORE PUN-FUN, guys & gals, to keep you reading and enjoying these favourites for the simple reason that they will fascinate you, in their simplicity, yet teach you a thing or two about the English language. Our eLanka mate Maxie Gerreyn sent them out to me, and I would like to thank him for it. While thanking Max, I would also say a big “thank you” to all of you good people who are involved with submitting articles to our great website and also subscribing to it occasionally. We value your contributions, and rest assured that e’Lanka only picks the best submissions for publication. ...

“BUM’S UP” – By Des Kelly Damon wayans Colonoscopy   They say a picture speaks a thousand words. This video, sent in by Max Gerreyn (who else !!?), speaks around ten thousand!!.The reason that I wish to “feature” it on e’Lanka is because I figure that at least 10% of our avid readers (around 2,500), would not even KNOW what a Colonoscopy is. It is for this minority that I present this most interesting video. Watch it, folks, and hope like hell that you do not have to go through one. Anyway, if it comes to the point of undergoing a colonoscopy, have a think about this video, and smile, while you can, before the good Doctor comes in. Without any further delay, here it is, so “BUM’S UP”   Des Kelly Editor-In-Chief eLanka ...

Cinderella – By Des Kelly      Had no idea that Cinderella was a real person. I used to read all these stories as a very young lad and being who I was, tended to believe that these were all “fairy-stories”.  Anyway, not being sceptical enough to believe that fairies were not real, just figments of the imagination, I did enjoy the Cinderella story with everything she did go through in life, and now bring my readers of eLanka yet another situation that this pretty young lass got into, via another friend and Officer of the Royal Ceylon Navy, Chris Lawton, who has somehow followed her life as she aged, just like the rest of us. Thank you Chris. Hope our readers will enjoy this “Episode”. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) eLanka. “EGGS” (FREE RANGE) – By Des Kelly    Among us Sri Lankans, I feel sure that all eLanka readers would be fully aware, that there are many “Roosters”. That said, with all this animal cruelty around at the moment, I would like to dedicate this little piece, especially to all the hens around, after all, it takes a hen and a rooster to manufacture the topic of my article. Eggs are just dregs, when “battery-laid”, by procedures both cruel and strange Still, one egg per day, keeps the doctor away, if the hens as I say, are “free-range”. Hens can’t be to blame, for the cruelty and shame, that their lives locked in cages, now features, it’s not the natural way, and I’d go on to say, they are still one of God’s little creatures. Eggs give us the protein that everyone needs, we love them for breakfast each day, ...
