THE BIRTH OF TELEVISION

Desmond Kelly Star of eLanka

John Logie Baird invented television, which was good, but from that came Donald Trump, his “tweets” & the “Social Media”. What a lot of Lankan Aussies ( & others) don’t know, is that many many years ago, the “Baird Clan” were involved in a bitter fued with a band of German pirates who had “landed” in Scotland but no-one actually saw the Huns land, as it was “Flag-Day” in Aberdeen and everyone was hiding.

It was quite a bitter struggle, but the Germans had much superior Forces and much better time-keeping, so, before too long the Baird family were in full retreat.
Finally, only about three Baird-Clansmen wete left in the Highlands &, in America, President Trump has just tweet-blasted HIS Attorney General Jeff Sessions (& what a “session” that was).Meanwhile, all the other Bairds fled to England & the “Social-Security” within.
(I have to stop digressing & stick to the bloody story).

One night a blood-hound tracked down one of the “elder” Baird Clansmen and gripped him in it’s teeth as the pursuing Huns caught up with the dog. The other two members of the Baird Clan tried to rescue their compatriot, but to no avail, and when the Germans surrounded them, instead of being taken prisoner, they decided to die, by throwing themselves into a cauldron of boiling hot borsch soup. This, they did, much to the dismay of the German Pirates, whose Chief then said, in typical Lankan fashion, “no matter men, we at least have one of them in the hound’s grasp & don’t forget, men, a Baird in the hand is worth two in the borsch” Puns are fun, but that said, I shall not only try, but will endeavour to give my eLanka readers everywhere, some factual quotes & interesting bits of information now & then, in order to get them thinking & thereby avoiding “old-timers’ decease.

ADULTERY. “What men call gallantry, Gods, adultery
Is much more common where the
climate’s sultry” Byron’s Don Juan.
