The Nisala Foundation Appeals for Support to Expand the Meditation Hall in Sri Lanka

At a time when stress, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion have become part of daily life for many people around the world, places dedicated to silence, healing, and inner peace have become increasingly important. One such place in Sri Lanka is the Nisala Foundation — a charitable meditation centre that has quietly transformed the lives of countless individuals through compassion, mindfulness, and generosity.

Located amidst the tranquil natural beauty of Sri Lanka, Nisala Foundation has for years welcomed people from diverse backgrounds seeking peace, spiritual understanding, and emotional healing. What makes the Foundation especially unique is its unwavering commitment to offering its services entirely on a donation basis rather than as a commercial or fee-based operation.

Meditation teachings, food, accommodation, and related services are provided through the goodwill and generosity of donors and well-wishers, allowing individuals to participate regardless of their financial status. This charitable model has enabled Nisala Foundation to remain accessible to sincere seekers who may otherwise be unable to afford retreat programs and spiritual guidance offered elsewhere.

Today, the Foundation faces a new and meaningful challenge.

With a growing number of local and international participants attending retreats and meditation programs, the existing meditation hall and accommodation facilities are no longer sufficient to meet demand. In response, Nisala Foundation has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the expansion of its meditation hall together with additional dormitory facilities.

A Place Where Lives Are Transformed

The proposed expansion is not merely a building project. It represents the continuation of a charitable mission dedicated to supporting human well-being, mindfulness, and spiritual growth.

According to the Foundation, approximately LKR 7 million — equivalent to around AED 29,744 — is required to complete the meditation hall and dormitory project.

Once completed, the expanded facilities will allow the Foundation to:

  • Accommodate more participants during retreats and meditation programs
  • Improve living facilities for visiting meditators
  • Continue providing food, accommodation, and teachings on a donation basis
  • Offer a peaceful environment for healing, contemplation, and self-development
  • Extend its charitable outreach to a greater number of people (more than 120 participants to meditate one time)

In an increasingly commercialised world, Nisala Foundation stands apart through its spirit of service and generosity. Its work reflects the timeless values of compassion, mindfulness, and shared humanity — values that continue to resonate deeply with people searching for balance and inner calm.

Proposed Construction Area

Supporters of the project say the expansion will help preserve an important sanctuary where individuals can step away from the pressures of modern life and reconnect with themselves in an atmosphere of silence and care.

The GoFundMe campaign invites contributions of any size, reminding supporters that every donation directly contributes toward creating a larger and more welcoming space for meditation and spiritual practice.
