Tribute: Christopher de Niese 1953-2026 Christopher de Niese Lived Life On His Own Terms – By Lawrence Machado

Christopher de Niese, a member of the famous de Niese clan, has passed away, aged 73, in the USA.

According to family members, Christopher slipped away peacefully at his home in Santa Monica, California, on May 24th (USA time), surrounded by his family after a four-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). 

It is a rare and rapidly progressive neurological disorder. Christopher battled this debilitating neuro-degenerative illness bravely to the end.

He is the much-loved husband of Beverly de Niese (nee Anderson) and cherished father of superstar soprano Danielle de Niese and Dr Andrew de Niese.

Christopher is the fourth son of the famous singing couple Douglas and Estelle de Niese, and brother of Peter, the late Stephen (https://shorturl.at/Ov0fF), Alan, Richard, Valerie, Marion, Paula, Camille, George and Damien. 

Christopher played rugby for St Peter’s College, alongside his close friend Hamish Patternott, and later at CH and FC, before the family migrated to Australia.

Douglas and Estelle, who met while entertaining the troops during World War II, were accomplished classical and choral music singers in Sri Lanka and later in Melbourne. Their musical legacy (https://shorturl.at/6xLm9) continues to thrive through their children and grandchildren. 

Christopher, who was the only Di Niese sibling to migrate to the USA, lived life on his terms until the end. According to his beloved wife, Beverly, Christopher defied the expected end-of-life symptoms synonymous with MSA.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
