Only 30 pilgrims will be allowed to attend the Annual Uhanda Murugam Temple festival adhering to the COVID health guidelines. The pilgrims on foot will not be allowed on this path or visit the Temple during the festival, Ampara District Additional Government Agent V.Jegatheesan said.

A meeting in this regard was held at the Temple chaired by the Lahugala Divisional Secretary Santharoowan Anuruddha attended by the Alyadivembu DS V.Pabakaran, MOH Dr.Usha Perera, Panama Vihrathiopathi Ven. Chandraratna, Trustees of the Temple and Heads of Security Forces recently.

Army, Navy and Police personnel have consented to participate in the shramadana at the meeting.

Therefore, volunteers will not be requested to participate in such events before and during the festival. Those who are willing to participate in the Pooja are requested to undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

The festival will commence with the flag hoisting on July 10 and end on July 25.
