“UNITED, WE STAND” – by Des Kelly

hands-united

United, we stand, divided, we fall.

There could never be a phrase that teaches everyone this truest, most important lesson, ever.

e’Lanka, as far as I am concerned, will not delve into either Politics or Religion, the reason being, that there is SO MUCH of these two argument-prone subjects around, even as I write this, the less publicised, the better.

However, briefly and personally put,

I have been a resident of this big, brown Land of Australia, for 60 years now, having been accepted as an O.A.M.(Ordinary Australian Man), worked my butt off for nigh on 40 of those years, hardly even taking time off, for an extended holiday, now an aged Pensioner of 86, waiting patiently for MY holiday which will be forever & a day.

As far as politics were concerned, I had no time to devote to any of it,

and, being a confirmed Roman Catholic, from the time I was born, I do have implicit FAITH in GOD, but otherwise lacked all Religious activities, because I had no time to attend Church, except when I got married, and decided that already having been born, I did not wish to be born again anywhere, especially on Earth.

I have been complaining recently about our main television stations

REPEATING their News Stories over and over again. Now, today, I thank them, because I was able to watch

SALLY MCMANUS, on the latest National Press Club Show, which was also a repeat (thank God).

As I have previously indicated, I do not intend to bring in Politics, but here was the first female Secretary of the A.C.T.U. speaking on Union matters that brought my title for this story into sharp focus. She spoke unerringly for an hour or so,

and I made it my business to listen to everything she had to say.

Having been an ordinary Australian man who left my homeland Ceylon reluctantly, as a worker, I always voted for Labor, even though this is the American spelling of the word.

While working, from the start. I was also part of an Union, while  I was working for others. Then, I got fed up with all the work for such little pay, and started to do my own thing

We did not have any Union Rep., who went out of their way to help us, and I now regret that Sally McManus was not around at the time. She did not go into hysterics at this P.C.meeting, she simply stood there and spoke COMMON SENSE. I would go as far as to write an AUSSIE SLOGAN for her.

“SALLY MC-MANUS, THERE FOR US”. United, we stand, divided, we fall, SALLY McMANUS is there, for us all.
