Australian men’s squad for the NRMA Insurance Test and Dettol ODI Series against the West Indies

Australian men's squad for the NRMA Insurance Test and Dettol ODI Series against the West Indies

The National Selection Panel (NSP) has named a 13-player men’s squad for the NRMA Insurance Test Series against the West Indies.

Australia:

Pat Cummins (NSW/Penrith Cricket Club) (c)
Scott Boland (VIC/Frankston Peninsula Cricket Club)
Alex Carey (SA/Glenelg Cricket Club)
Cameron Green (WA/Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club)
Josh Hazlewood (NSW/St George Cricket Club)
Travis Head (SA/Tea Tree Gully Cricket Club) (vc)
Usman Khawaja (QLD/Valley District Cricket Club)
Marnus Labuschagne (QLD/Redlands Cricket Club)
Nathan Lyon (NSW/Northern District Cricket Club)
Mitchell Marsh (WA/Fremantle Cricket Club)
Matthew Renshaw (QLD/Toombul District CC)
Steve Smith (NSW/Sutherland Cricket Club) (vc)
Mitchell Starc (NSW/Manly Warringah Cricket Club)
NSP men’s Chair of Selectors George Bailey said: “Cameron Green will come into the playing XI for the Test in Adelaide in a squad also containing Scott Boland and Matthew Renshaw. We have selected a team we believe contains the best six batters in the country.

“Scott Boland and Matt Renshaw will join the squad prior to the first Test after playing for the Melbourne Stars (Jan 15) and Brisbane Heat (Jan 13) in the BBL.”

The NSP also named the following squad for the Dettol ODI Series against the West Indies:

Steve Smith (NSW/Sutherland Cricket Club) (c)
Sean Abbott (NSW/Parramatta District Cricket Club)
Nathan Ellis (TAS/Lindisfarne Cricket Club)
Cameron Green (WA/Subiaco Floreat Cricket Club)
Aaron Hardie (WA/Willetton Cricket Club)
Travis Head (SA/Tea Tree Gully Cricket Club) (vc)
Josh Inglis (WA/Joondalup Cricket Club)
Marnus Labuschagne (QLD/Redlands Cricket Club)
Glenn Maxwell (VIC/Fitzroy Doncaster Cricket Club)
Lance Morris (WA/Scarborough Cricket Club)
Jhye Richardson (WA/Fremantle Cricket Club)
Matt Short (VIC/Northcote Cricket Club)
Adam Zampa (NSW/Sutherland Cricket Club)
Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins are being managed following the Test Series against Pakistan and the West Indies. Steven Smith will captain the side, supported by Travis Head.

Aaron Hardie, Matt Short, Jhye Richardson, and Nathan Ellis return to the squad. Lance Morris has been included in his first ODI squad.
NSP men’s Chair of Selectors George Bailey said: “It is a little over 12 months until the Champions Trophy and further opportunities for the likes of Aaron Hardie, Matt Short, Jhye Richardson, and Nathan Ellis will be valuable both to our ongoing improvement as a team and also further their personal experiences in ODI cricket.
“The squad strikes a balance between players continuing to make their mark on international cricket, playing alongside some of our most experienced players with an eye to the future in this format.”
