Street Burger and SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka Commemorate International Burger Day with a Pledge for the Future

In a heartwarming celebration held at the SOS Children’s Village in Galle on 24.05.2025, Street Burger -pioneer of Sri Lanka’s gourmet burger scene and now a leading home-grown restaurant chain- chose to commemorate International Burger Day with an event that blended joy, community, and purpose. What began as a day of festivities culminated in a powerful announcement: a pledge by Street Burger to support SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka over the coming year.

The event brought together children, mothers, and Street Burger staff for an afternoon filled with engaging activities—face painting, games, and, of course, the signature gourmet burgers for which Street Burger has come to be known for. The day was a celebration of shared moments, simple joys, and heartfelt connection.

“There’s no greater reward than seeing a child’s face light up with joy,” said Ameen Al Tharique, Co-Founder of Street Burger. “Our pledge goes beyond just financial aid—it’s a long-term commitment to nurturing the future of Sri Lanka’s children, and we’re proud to partner with SOS Children’s Villages to uplift and empower the next generation.”

“The work that SOS Children’s Villages do in ensuring children receive high-quality care in a nurturing environment is truly inspiring,” added Masoon Samoon, Street Burger Co-Founder. “We have to also acknowledge that this donation has primarily been made possible with the support of our loyal customers who have brought us to where we are today.”

The pledged monetary donation will directly support core programmes such as education, youth development, and family strengthening initiatives across SOS Children’s Villages in Sri Lanka. These initiatives are designed to help children grow up in safe, supportive environments where they can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

“This was more than just a day of celebration—it was a reaffirmation of the value and potential of every child,” said Mr. Divakar Ratnadurai, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka. “We are deeply grateful to Street Burger for their generosity and belief in our work. Their support will ensure that more children receive the care, love, and opportunities they deserve.”

This partnership reflects a shared vision for sustainable social impact, where corporate responsibility aligns with community empowerment. The event stands as a testament to what can be achieved when businesses meaningfully engage with the communities they serve.
