Marie Nelun Wijesinghe | Obituary | Sharing Memories 27 Jun 1958 – 03 Sep 2025

In Loving Memory of Marie Nelun Wijesinghe

Marie Nelun Wijesinghe

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Marie Nelun Wijesinghe (née Navaratne), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the age of 67.

Marie was a woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering grace. Born into the Navaratne family of the late Ben and Rose Navaratne, she carried her roots with pride and dignity throughout her life. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, wisdom, and generosity of spirit.

As a devoted mother and grandmother, she was a guiding light—steadfast, nurturing, and endlessly loving. Her family was her greatest joy, and she dedicated herself to their happiness and wellbeing with selfless devotion.

Marie had a profound appreciation for life’s simple pleasures—a love for music, nature, fashion, and being an educator. Her kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered, and her gentle soul will be remembered always.

She is survived by her children Rosemarie, Joseph Harin, Natasha, their spouses, grandchildren Milan, Harper, Matilda (cat), siblings Ben, Rohini, Lakshman, Fr. Louie Marie, Rosebud, Hugo, Philip, and their their families, who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.

A funeral service at Highland funeral home Markham and a mass at St. Patrick’s Church Markham, will be held to honor her life and legacy.

Though she may no longer walk beside us, Marie’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. We will miss her beyond words can ever express. May she rest in eternal peace. We love you.
