Securatec Lanka Secures Major Mi-17 Overhaul Contract for Sri Lanka Air Force
Pioneering a New Era of Regional Aviation Maintenance Capability
Colombo, Sri Lanka — Securatec Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, one of Sri Lanka’s top-tier defence contractors with nearly two decades of industry experience, has secured one of the most critical defence contracts from the Ministry of Defence for the Major Overhaul and Life Extension of Mi-17 Helicopters operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The Mi-17 series has long been a vital workhorse for the Sri Lanka Air Force, supporting a wide range of missions including troop transport, humanitarian relief, and logistics operations. With this new initiative, Securatec Lanka aims to establish a dedicated Mi-17 Line Overhaul Facility within Sri Lanka, marking a milestone in the country’s defence aviation capability.

This state-of-the-art facility will enable in-country overhauling, reducing the dependency on foreign maintenance centres and significantly cutting down turnaround times and costs. Moreover, it will serve as a regional hub for Mi-17 maintenance and serviceability, enhancing operational readiness not only for Sri Lanka but also for other friendly air forces in the region.
Speaking on the achievement, the company noted that the project aligns with its long-term vision to develop local aerospace engineering expertise and strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as a trusted defence and aviation partner in South Asia.
This initiative reflects a major step forward in defence self-reliance, technology transfer, and regional cooperation, while reaffirming Securatec Lanka’s commitment to national security and innovation.
