St. Joseph Hospital, Negombo officially broke ground on its new, state of the art Operating Theatre Complex, a development poised to transform surgical care in the region and contribute meaningfully to Sri Lanka’s national progress. Graced by the Mayor of Negombo, members of the Municipal Council, revered religious leaders and distinguished members of the medical fraternity, the ceremony symbolized a powerful union of civic leadership, spiritual blessing and institutional vision.The new complex will bring together three state of the art operating theatres built to international standards, supported by advanced infection control systems and modern surgical technology to ensure the highest levels of safety and precision.

Obituaries – Sad News

Ranjani de Alwis – Wife of Dr. Kingsley De Alwis,mother of Deepani De Alwis and Dilanthi De Alwis, mother-in-law of Yuxuan Cai and John Mummert and grandmother of Ian Mummert and Dilan Mummert, passed away on March 6th, 2026. An accomplished musician and dedicated teacher who shared her gift of music with many students in Sri Lanka, Canada and Italy. She was also a woman of deep Christian faith and a long-standing member of the Cinnamon Gardens Baptist Church, touching many lives through her kindness, generosity and unwavering devotion. Funeral Service was held at the Cinnamon Gardens Baptist Church, Colombo 07, on March 11th, followed by cremation at the General Cemetery, Borella.
