An Appreciation of the Life of Peter Decker-by Lawrence Machado

We Were blessed by Your Christianian Values and Friendship
Rest in peace, dear Peter Decker. Your passing away leaves a massive void among your family, church community, classmates, friends and the large Peterite community around the world. You did your best for your family and batted for them in every way possible.
We are deeply saddened at the sudden death of a much loved and respected mate from the Peterite Class of ’74, but also deeply grateful for what you brought into our lives wherever you lived and worked. You always had that wonderful smile which broke down barriers even among strangers.
Our time on earth is limited for all of us, so it’s best to make the most of it like you did.
You lived a wonderful Christian life and this will inspire all of us.
You were a fine sportsman in word and deed and supported those down and out throughout your life without speaking about it.
Your professionalism took you far in the printing industry not only in Sri Lanka but overseas as well. You stood tall as a stalwart of St Peter’s College OBU, as president of the Sri Lanka Association of Printers,as director at Flexiprint in Sri Lanka and other companies.
Gentleman To Your Fingertips
You were a gentleman to your fingers, always courteous, humble and well groomed even during our college days. You always supported our class reunions and did a fantastic job for the 2024 reunion in Sri Lanka.
May your dear wife Eranjinie, Tierney, Kyle, in-laws and grandchildren be comforted by the happy memories and your love and generosity.
I am glad we kept in touch daily and our families caught up in Sydney with Reynold, Delano de Silva and Aubrey Jarkey during your visit. You had quite a few class reunions in Melbourne after your migration to Australia to be closer to your children and grandchildren.
May the turf lie gently on you. Till we meet again.
