“FAIR-GO, AUSTRALIA” by Des Kelly

A favourite Aussie-Phrase, meaning simply to overlook mistakes of sometimes erroneous “mates” who may, at one time or another, do something wrong or silly, in the eyes of those around him/her. “Fair-go, mate”is the typical statement, one has got to know, especially us, migrants, as a “pleasing-phrase”used by Aussies everywhere.

With regard to the most recent Cricket Fiasco, I would now like to say “UNFAIR-GO, AUSTRALIA”. Before I go, taking sides, I would like to inform all my readers, that I nearly stopped “barracking” for Australian Cricket Teams of recent years, totally, because of their “attitude” on the field. To me, they seemed to “go out there” with only one thing uppermost in their minds, and that was to WIN the game, no matter, at what cost. A silly, foolish, thing to do, considering the fact that there are so many other superb cricket teams out there, wanting to do exactly the same thing.

This is where the name-calling, sledging, bumping opposing players on purpose, starts. The game, which was once a “Gentleman’s one, rapidly deteriorates into a game of “, “pariahs”, pardon the expression folks, but “fair-go, mate”, the Australian Team, seemed to be the “champions”at this nefarious activity and, as such, turned me completely “off-them”. I have to say, right here, that The “Womens’ teams seem to be very much better, in this regard. They go out, play their games, play to win, of course, but take their losses in much better fashion. They go out to play cricket.

Now, I say to each & every Aussie out there, Businessmen, Sponsors, would-be Supporters, of both Steve Smith & David Warner, this is an extremely “Unfair-go, Australia”. You are “crucifying” two young Aussies who have worked long & hard, to wear their “baggy-greens”in pride, for their great Country. O.k, I written this a dozen times already, they “cheated”, with the idea,   coming from David & supported by his Captain, Steve, we know that already, but silly, stupid, impulsive decisions, followed by “acts” of what may seem to be unethical, unwise, and downright evil, have been made by persons all around this World of ours. Some have “paid the price” with their lives, a bloke named Adolph comes to mind. He had it all, could have turned Germany into a virtual Paradise, and what does he do ? He tried to win a war with Russia, failed miserably & that was that.

Adolph Hitler was a “Criminal” of the worst type, a cunning one, at that, who saw out his life (anyway), in the lap of luxury, in his “private-bunker” at Bertchesgarden, BUT he was a bloody criminal.

Then, we have the little Rocket Man. No- one with any brains, would term him “ethical”, would they ?. I would not trust him as far as I could throw him, but he still lives in his Presidential Palace in North Korea. With all the mistakes he has made, bringing his Country into almost dire poverty, entirely dependant on China, no-one has tried to take his Palace over & get “Kym ungto a shanty in old Shanty Town”, have they ?.

These two are certainly not criminals, but keep making very unwise decisions all the time. The way he is “sacking” his own “Staff” ever since he became President of America,

one wonders, how Donald Trump will keep going into the future, if he has one, & closer to home, in Canberra, as a matter of fact, our Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, keeps risking a very significant lead in the “polls”with various unwise decisions leaving Bill Shorten with a smile on his face, nowadays, expecting to win the next election in Australia with his “Labour-Party”. I DO NOT spell “Labour” any other way, and wish Mr.Shorten all the very best.

However, if Labour win the next Election, does Mr.Turnbull have to “sell his mansion” & various other properties, to move into a “Retirement Unit” in Hampton Park, like me ?, or maybe a better Retirement Unit in the CBD, because “Aveo”

Is certainly not ” the way to go”?, not on your Nelly, Kelly.

Mr.Turnbull & his lovely wife will live out their lives in the sumptuous comfort they have always been used to, which brings me back to David Warner and ex Captain Smith.

It seems to me that it IS “AN UNFAIR-GO”, A VERY UNFAIR-GO, AUSTRALIA, that these two young cricketers are being punished way OVER the “Penal-line” for an impulsive, but stupid decision, made at this match. They have already been “punished”for that mistake, will probably NEVER make these silly decisions again, as long as they live hopefully, if & when, they decide to play cricket again.

On top of the punishments already meted out to them, the obvious embarrassment, wherever they go, the embarrassment of their innocent Aussie families, the 12month ban of playing the sport they love, the chance that either of them will ever wear the “baggy-green”, again, it just seems LUDICROUS to me that a tiny piece of sandpaper, probably bought at Bunnings for the DASTARDLY-DEED, is going to cost these two young cricketers millions of dollars of savings, their homes, that they worked so hard, for, simply through ONE SILLY MISTAKE, MADE. Don’t do this to them. They do not deserve “over the top” penalties. I say enough is enough!. To the Sponsors, the businesses, etc. that quite possibly raked in a lot of money, thru these guys, it is now THEIR TURN to show that “FAIR-GO, AUSTRALIA” is still alive & well. Steve Smith & David Warner will appreciate whatever sympathy is offered them, it is EASTER SUNDAY 2018, as I write this story, so, to all our readers out there, let me wish you a happy, peaceful & safe Easter. God bless you all.
