Hi, I’m looking forward to connect with anyone who knew my dad. May be your parents or grandparents from Ampara or Udawalawe knew him. My dad was called Karu or Karunakaran. Details below.
Karunakaran was born in 1923 in Ariyalai, Jaffna. Tamil origin but he spoke English and Sinhala fluently. He was a volunteer army officer in late fifties to early sixties. Attended a technical college in Ampara and then employed by RVDB (River Valleys Development Board) in Ampara. He was also a volunteer admin officer in one of the Pillayar (Vinayagar) temples in Ampara. He was transferred from Ampara to Uda Walawe in late sixties and worked there till he retired in 1979.
I have never been to Ampara or Udawalawe. I was brought up solely by my mother and we lived far away from Ampara. I hardly knew him growing up. Due to circumstances at that time I went overseas very young and never had a chance to connect with dad. Thank you.
