CameraLK Brings Global Spotlight to Sri Lanka with Historic Sony Regional Wildlife Kando at Yala

CameraLK 1

CameraLK, Sri Lanka’s leading camera retail giant and authorized distributor for Sony in Sri Lanka, proudly hosted the Sony Regional Wildlife Kando at Yala, bringing together some of Asia’s most passionate wildlife photographers and visual storytellers for an unforgettable four-day creative experience in the heart of Sri Lanka’s wilderness.

Held at the iconic Yala National Park, the event welcomed creators from across the region, including Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mongolia, and Myanmar. The gathering marked a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s photography industry, positioning the island as a key destination for international imaging and wildlife storytelling events.

The Sony Regional Wildlife Kando was designed to immerse participants in the raw beauty of the natural world while providing unique opportunities to learn, create, and collaborate. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Yala’s diverse landscapes and wildlife, attendees embarked on a series of wildlife safaris, photography expeditions, masterclasses, and hands-on experiences led by industry experts and Sony Alpha Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).

Throughout the four-day programme, participants ventured deep into the wilderness, capturing remarkable encounters with Sri Lanka’s iconic wildlife, including elusive leopards and majestic elephants. The experience challenged photographers to push the boundaries of their creativity and technical skills while embracing the unpredictability and excitement of real-world wildlife photography.

Beyond the safari drives and workshops, the event fostered meaningful connections among creators from different countries. Evening sharing sessions under the stars became a highlight of the programme, providing a platform for participants to exchange stories, review their work, discuss techniques, and build lasting friendships within the regional photography community. These interactions created a unique spirit of collaboration and reinforced the power of photography to transcend borders and cultures.

Adding further significance to the event, the Sony Regional Wildlife Kando at Yala also served as the launch platform for the all-new Sony Alpha a7R VI and FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS lens. Participants were among the first in the region to experience the latest innovations from Sony, testing the new equipment in one of the world’s most demanding and rewarding wildlife photography environments.

Commenting on the event, Anushka Gunasinghe, Managing Director of CameraLK, said, “Hosting the Sony Regional Wildlife Kando in Sri Lanka is a proud achievement not only for CameraLK but for the entire local photography community. Bringing together talented creators from across Asia in the stunning landscapes of Yala demonstrates Sri Lanka’s growing prominence on the global photography map. We are honoured to partner with Sony in creating opportunities that inspire creativity, foster learning, and showcase the incredible natural beauty of our country to the world.”

Founded in 2010, CameraLK has rapidly grown to become South Asia’s largest camera retail and online store. Celebrated for its knowledgeable imaging experts, outstanding customer service, and competitive pricing, CameraLK carries over 5,000 products from major manufacturers, including Sony. With branches in Colombo, Kandy, Jaffna, and Batticaloa, as well as a robust online presence at www.cameralk.com, CameraLK continues to be the ultimate destination for camera enthusiasts across Sri Lanka.
